  • Most maintainence free bike?

    Hello xBhpians
Please help me choose between the yamaha fz and the HH hunk based on the following parameters:
    1. I'm 5'7,68kg.my budget is around Rs.75000
    2. My workplace is 25kms away from my residence; so daily commute amounts to roughly 60kms(+/- 10 kms).
    3. As i've mentioned in the title, THE most important factor for me is that the bike have the least maintenance among its peers.
By maintenance i mean that it wont start developing age related problems for at least 4 years and when it does start reporting errors that they can be fixed cheaply and easily.

I currently own a hand-me-down TVS Fiero which came to me after 30000kms of usage and the 1 thing it has taught me about myself is that i have 0 tolerance for malfunctioning machinery.
    I wish i was one of those guys who's passionate enough about his bike to actually enjoy maintaining and repairing it, but sadly i'm just not that guy;
i do feel that way about computers and electronics and maybe even cars(though dont have one yet); but wierdly not about automotives.

    4. Require a fuel efficiency of at least 50kmpl. 55-60 kmpl would be a bonus.
    5. i'm a very steady, boring kind of driver;rarely go beyond 70kmph and have crossed 100kmph only 2-3 times in 2 years of driving the fiero.

Having gone through various posts in the WhatBike section I think the most natural answer would be the hunk.
but i really like the fz but am very sceptical in terms of its practicality; especially for a guy like me.
i've ruled out the 125/135cc bikes as i think they will feel really underpowered especially since i've been used to the 150cc fiero for over 2 years now.
Also ruled out the 180cc+ bikes because of fuel economy, budget constraints and am not interested in their performance surplus.
Not at all excited by bajaj pulsar- too common.
not interested in tvs/suzuki products-fiero is really troublesome and i'm being forced to sell it for Rs.12000 when a comparable HH or bajaj bike goes for ~Rs.20000.

The reason for this thread is to ascertain whether the fz is really that bad a buy especially in terms of maintenance.
i'm totaly bowled over by its looks and style to the extent that i'm obsessed with it and yearn for it but the handling and performance have always underwhelmed me and never impressed me as much as the looks.
Maybe its just me, but whenever i've driven the fz it always feels like just any other 150cc bike.
Also is it possible to get 50kms to the litre for the fz with my driving style or is it simply impossible.

My family is really bent on getting the hunk and i'm willing to buy the fz instead but i absolutely do not want to regret my decision 3 years down the line(again, in terms of maintenance).

Excuse me for such a long query but i wanted to be as detailed about my needs as i could so that you wont have to waste our time asking me.

    Thanks a lot.

HH Hunk all the way, it can easily give 50kmpl mileage, depending on road/drive condition the mileage can also be improved. You can ask Hunk owners personally and find out if you have doubt.

FZ is another beauty in it's own right, but taking into all your requirement I suggested you HUNK (b'cos I have not hears FZ giving 50kmpl), you may add GS150R to your list.

go for the hunk or dazzler. fz does have low mileage of around 40 and service also costs more .

We've got 2 fz's in my friend circle and both give 35-40 kmpl...
Hunk and GS150r meet all your needs....
                test ride both and decide...

All the above points r well taken care in a honda engine...no doubt about that.....n hunk has tat engine.....
unicorn also hv d same engine...a better milage n smothness(compared 2 hunk)......unicorn shud b a contender dazzler lil costly...but comes wid lil fancy design ...as u say u don want maintenance....honda shud b ur thing..
                  i don no much bout FZ..chek d thread der....shud help u....

Who told you this? Its not true.

If you really care for mileage then don't go for FZ. Look for any other bike which can give you that.
I am riding Fazer for last 1.5 Yrs now still getting 40-42 KMPL. It completely depends on what your requirement is.

As said by many Honda unicorn would be the best bet, good mileage & less maintenance ; then its always HH or HMSI ; If you think why Unicorn over hunk there wont be any so called (stickering)Upgrade in HMSI unlike HH
