  • Terribly confused...[Dazzler or FZS or GS or pul135]

    Guys,
I need to get a 150cc bike within a month. Even after taking the test ride of almost all the available bikes in this segment i have not been able to make up my mind...

    [i own a pulsar 150 presently]

i have zeroed in on these four .i am giving my "convinced percentage" (sorry for the absurd term)and reasons of confusion for them as below:

    1) Honda unicorn dazzler: this according to me has the best engine in the segment with great FE but looks....( more i look at it more i curse honda for missing an oppurtunity to compete with FZs in this segment).Looks are not bad but...something surely is missing.
[40% of my heart says to go for it]

    2) Yamaha FZ-S : This has almost everything i need and want except for a very bad FE figure..A huge difference with dazzler of 12kmpl .It looks good, rides well everything but i am not being able to ignore the FE part.
    [30% convinced]

I wouldnt even considered the 3) and 4) but for the shortcomings of dazzler and Fz

    3) Suzuki GS150R : A very good allround bike with nice engine and good FE. But it surely looks conservative at best and borrring ...

Plus it is kind of bulky and doesnt handle that well in comparison to FZ and dazzler (City riding at low to medium speeds)
    [20%]

    4) Pulsar 135ls : this is the only bike out of 4 of which i havent taken a test ride of..

It looks a bit on the smaller side (i am 176cm with 70kgs) plus the idea of buying another pulsar somehow doesnt go well with me.
on the positve sides i have read and heard very good things about this bike thats why including it here.
    [10%]

    Friends please suggest......Convince me....

Since you own a 150cc, I would say go for an upgrade. The P220 F/S being your best bet. Rest is your call.

Go for an upgrade, u've ridden a 150cc bike & should definately knews how a 15bhp feels like.

My advice - p220 ! F-version is better priced bcoz of projector & fairing.

out of the bikes you've mentioned, the GS provides you with the best of both worlds, but i'd definitely suggest an upgrade in cc's...

P135 behaves similar to P150 .... I wont suggest you that.

If you need a quick upgrade, you can go for RTR 180, or if you have enough budget, go for a P220S.

Best way to decide is to take test ride.

            Cheers.

dude if you 're gonna use the bike strictly for city go for Apache 180 but if you ll be using it for long distance rides go for p220 even though Suzuki gs 150 would've been a better go than p220 considering your FE requirement but the after sales service would be better with Bajaj than Suzuki . Since you already have a 150 cc this would be a better go

Dazler engine is not much refined even though it scores well in FE dont know why honda is not making any changes and Fz doesn't perform to the level of its macho looks RTR will smoke a Fz at any given race distance

u already hav a 150cc engine...its better to go for a upgrade, i presume u are employed and wud definitely suggest for a upgrade...
but at the same time u want a FE >50 which preety much takes out all the bikes above 150cc.
just test ride RTR180 see if its fine with ur height or a P180 may b u can get some discount.
out of all the bikes that u have shortlisted i think only dazzler will satisfy u with the performance considering u have already tasted the 13.8BHP engine...

thank you guys for ur prompt responses. The general consensus here seems to be that i should go for an upgrade in cc and sure, that would have been a logical thing to do. But for some reason (my brother owns a RE electra and i have access to it more or less) i want to go for a 150 only. So please suggest accordingly. And if possible out of these four.

looks like most people have missed the point that the thread started is not looking for performance and is also concerned about the mileage part. Why a much more powerful suggestion that drains his pocket for purchase as well as for maintenance?

@sonetaloha, my very personal opinions as follows:
Dazzler, all is well but for pathetic plastic quality and finishing. This bike is very unlike Honda. That apart, it is very good to ride, comfy, smooth, economical and a beautiful handler.

FZ is superb in all aspects except the fuel economy. But then, unless you revv the bike in lower gears, it delivers mileage close to 45kmpl. Which is not bad but not in the leagues of the other 3.

GS is superb again but in its own way. It doesn't dazzle with its looks. Don't doubt abt its weight or what ever. On paper and on road aspects have a world of difference.

the P, I'd leave it to many people eager to speak abt it.

                        njoy

@HydBiker yeah thanks thats more like the advice i am seeking..

Now if a few unbiased dazzler owners can comment about the build quality and looks part of it or a few fzs can convince me that it can be made to ride in the mileage range of 45...

If you dont care abt mileage compared to other options - FZ is the bike to go for. Handling is class apart. Its more fun - you will love it ! and no need to talk about looks.
