Decent Mileage in highways (atleast 40),reliability,VFM

ZMA can give 40 kmpl on cruising but in city drives it can be little less (but not less than 35kmpl, b'cos AMI makes no huge difference b/w city/highway drive conditions w.r.t FE)

You can consider Uni as well 45kmpl upwards for sure, with petrol prices probably getting deregulated, the prices a can swing crazily and in worst case prices.. Uni can avoid your pocket being burnt b'cos of good FE.

Apart from Uni, GS150R is also a good choice, test drive it once

well, my BAL ASS services anything produced by BAL and it is not a PBK service center

Whoa!!! Who ever gave you that info??? Did you check the UCE ones? I'll have Tarc speak up if possible who has done all way from Chennai to Goa & back on his C5. IIRC he only had his speedo cable broken in his journey.

well a number of people have done all india tours or extremely long distance tours on pulsars, still you can't shut up people who say pulsars are not reliable........similarly.......what i told was a general perception about bike..........personally feel bullets are like white elephants........more show off less practicality......

Second with a 6 months old std UCE. SVC mechs screwed up the carb to core. Not the bike's fault, but shows how bad is the RE service.

yes .......what i meant was that there will be always one small problem or other....

      chill bro...............

you know .......with in a few years .....i am also going to buy a bullet, but not for anything like reliability, power, comfort.........or anything else we discuss here............just to enjoy its relaxed riding on smooth roads.............but then, during that time, i will be keeping my current bike for all other purpose.....like riding in city.....touring to places where bullet finds difficult to go.......

zma or zmr are really good options for long distance touring. you will find many tourers blogs flooded here on xbhp swearing by its reliability throughout.

I would say go for it unless you have the patience to wait it out and see the new launches happening this year... hopefully the r15 may have some power upgrade along with the visual upgrade or the so called fazer 250cc.. but till nothing is confirmed i believe zma/zmr would be your best bet.

          cheers

Take a test ride of ZMR and RE TBTS and decide which suits you more. Both are very good tourers.ZMR is more refined where as RE might need more attention. My vote goes to white ZMR

hey bro, read the link first before posting, it does not support what you are saying, it says it is difficult to offroad with avenger. and i think most will agree, otherwise what is the point in companies like BMW having a very succesful touing bike line up that are a cross between street bike and dirt bike.

and ofcourse i had used multiquote.

and please don't use red colors in bold. doesn't look decent.

How about the Yamaha Fazer?!Yamaha website specifically categorizes this as a touring vehicle and considering that it is the conservative twin of the FZ,it must do well in the city.
The 2011 Karizma R looks cool(not-Dated!) and drives better and has a pillion seat that actually seats one!(unlike the Fazer),but fast forwarding to 2014-your friends will probably get the 2014 "Hero Moto" Karizma R and you will be laughing your pants off!(Kiddin'!).It's a full 'Paisa Vasool' vehicle.(IMO)
In the end it's Your money, your choice.

Go for the 220...well within your budget, ample power, decent FE, comfortable and easily available spares. Since you have a budget of 1 lakh, you can invest the remaining in a good helmet and jacket...save the rest of fuel

my vote goes to ZMR as it has what ZMA-R has plus there are more goodies which a touring bike should have..moreover its more refined & reliable then a bull..take a test drive & choose according to your like, you won't go wrong with any of them though..

just avoid R15 if your first preference is touring..these bikes like ZMR are miles ahead in terms of touring..
