Hi XBHPians, going to buy a bike.I have shortlisted CBR250R,ZMA-R,Apache 180 and the P220.I am 5ft 9 and slim.I will be mostly riding in city and occassionally will go for long distance (very rarely).
1.I test rode the CBR,there was knocking at lower speeds.I dont expect to get this after spending more than 1.5 lakhs.CBR owners please comment on this.
2.ZMA-Good power delivery, nice engine and reliability. But i was not able to cut traffic with ease,CBR was more nimble than the ZMA.May be i was riding it for the first time or all the ZMA owners feel this. Please throw a light on spares availability.
3.Apache 180-Pure adrenaline rush.Very very nimble and flickable in traffic, good braking too. Also read in one of the threads that the engine is reliable.Does it have any niggles and problems
4.P220-Straight line stability was good. But it felt heavy in city. And had a tough time while cornering too.Good VFM though.

Guys, please give me your valuable suggestions and please mention all the pros and cons of the bikes listed above
    Thanks.!!

Yoyr list should have menioned R15 also, also replace the Apache RTR 180 with Apache RTR 180 ABS, as you're having 1.5 lakhs to spend of a bike, why not a Bullet/enfield?

i dont understand your confusion.. CBR seems to be the best pick of the lot if you cant wait 2nd best would be RTR180... if you are still undecided P220 if you are a pulsar fan or a ZMR if you are a HH fan..
        Regardless, Life shall go on.

City riding + occasional touring = RTR 180(ABS).Rest money can be well spent on good riding gears.

Hi haxor,i am too slim for a bullet and i dont like the R15 (No offence to anyone),and about the ABS version of Apache,it is still not available in my city!

I know that CBR is the best of the lot.But i am concerned about engine knocking and availabilty of the parts, and most importantly i had an bacckpain after riding it for 10kms.And i like the ZMA more than the ZMR.ZMA owners please give me pros and cons.

Apache is the best when it comes to city riding but i am concerned about niggles (if any).Apachians please comment on this.

I dont know how serious the engine knocking problem is in the CBR, but i seriously think you should keep it on the top of your list... talk to atleast 3 sbr owners... talk to people who have finished 6k kms on the cbr and then decide(its time taking, but definitely worth)...

And coming to the second option... which city are you from bro... I think apache is the 2nd best option... try to get the abs from your nearby city atleast... its totally worth the pain... and buy some sexy gear with the remaining money
              Apache 180

I highly recommend CBR to you...comparing CBR to noisy RTR is silly...Knocking problem in CBR may be due to bad bike, ride another one and decide...ZMA as usual a all time Great bike.....

Every motorcycle including Hayabusa & Ducati has pros & cons in them. The key is to learn the cons & live with it. Height, weight & riding conditions are only part of the requirement. Pls define the purpose & complete requirement & you'll be amazed to see that you will be able to zero in on your ride by yourself. Anyway adding few cents of mine on the cons side...

C250R - Expensive; not sure how this will be received in the future.

ZMA - Availability of spares & old technology & may be replaced anytime soon to make you feel outdated

A180 & P220 - Again might get outdated anytime soon as there're rumors of TVS/BAL entering into 250cc segment
Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
Awareness + Skill is what keeps you out of harm's way
ATGATT + Awareness + Skill means you might Live To Ride another day

CBR250R: Updated machine, bit expensive tho.You should contact the CBR owners to get perfect feedback on the issues you suspect.
ZMA and P220 are not as flickable as A180 but you won't feel heavy and get used to it as you ride them more n more.
On higways ZMA and P220 are much more efficient than A180.
You can't get everything from one single bike...can you ? So think on your priorities and choose accordingly.

honestly the problems in 1,2,4 something that is bound to happen with any bike u are riding the first time. all 3 are very capable bikes, 2 days of riding is all it takes to forget things like cutting traffic and handling issues, cause all the 3 are tested good city bikes, i suggest u look at the things u will not be able to adjust to, like seating positions,power/lack of power, weight and then deceide.

If you've got the money for the CBR, go for it's priced pretty well, when you consider in the USA it's pretty much the same price as a Ninja 250.

                        My order of preference

                        1) CBR
                        2) Apache with ABS
                        3) Pulsar
                        4) The Hero Honda ZMA, sorry I still can't digest the name Hero Honda.

The engine knocking on the CBR is probably only on the test drive bike, maybe it was still in the run in phase. The CBR will be your best bet with a pillion, then the Pulsar, ZMA and last would be the Apache.

If you're interested in travelling back in time, then go for a Bullet, they sound more like sawn off shotguns to me.
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !
