  • A lost Rider...

    Hi all,

My first post on Forum. I have been riding bikes since i was 15(Started with Rajdoot-Victor-Fiero-CBZ-Pulsar), even bought Pulsar 150 at 16 (& got challaned 3 times till i got my License). With my that lady i spent my whole teen age years leaning & kissing corners and shared every bump of life. During my last 11 years i have ridden almost all bikes available in India under 200-250CC segment and of course Enfield models to taste the Royal ride. Last year i sold my P150 which was sitting ideal at home for 1 year and bought Activa for family which i also ride on regular basis which has made me more civilized about riding style and kinda behavior on road.

Now, problem starts when got to know about launches of Hondas/BMWs/Davidsons/Yamahas/Suzukies/Ducaties & on & on..... The little biker inside start mesmerizing for those past years of owning the road . To keep a check on self asked a friend to cover jaipur on bike and realized the feeling was still there, the biker was still there alive in every sense. So recently checked market for available machines but market is so much cluttered with stuff that i feel confused. Even test rode a CBR250R, Thunderbird & Ninja250r. Lately looked for Ninja 650R & Davidson Iron 883.

I am 5feet 5" and really feel confused with the above mentioned rides. Very Soon I am going to be transferred to Dehradun or nearby hilly terrain. Need guidance as neither feel like rushing corners as used to be nor feel comfortable with idea of owning some big bike of higher cubic capacities. Touring has also starting facinizing, also suggest if something new is coming worth waiting. Budget is not the issue but the machine to carry all expectations is.

Please help out as some one lost is eager to come on road.

One bike that will be happy everywhere with you would be HD super low. Your height should not be the issue for that machine.

U are tall enough to ride any bike in this world. even those tall dirt bikes or KTM adventure.

If ur budget permits spending close to 5 and a half lacs. Just pick up a GT650R. For cornering that bike is damn fun. U will enjoy leaning into a corner more than any other bike in its price range and that V-twin growl above 6krpm is just out of this world.

For 3 Lacish price range Nothing even comes close to Ninja 250R. Again a amazing cornering machine with plenty of power for both city and highways. Great tourer too.

for 1 - 1.5Lacs pick up a Non-ABS CBR250R. total value for money . great tourer and solid cornering abilities too.
If u could live with less power (a lot less) but wanna have a bike that will make u orgasm in a corner than R15 is the bike to go. This is one of my fav bikes and i too want one in my garage.

Less than 1Lacs... 220 is the bike.. tons of fun and great bang for ur buck and it wheelies in 2nd gear like a toy .
Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

Thanks "riot" for such deep 'cam chain details'. R15 too is my fav for her sticky corner approach... Ninja Quarter is great toy to play with around, feeling like Rossi or Stoner but as touring is seriously on my mind i have smoked out them both. Baby CBR seems to be more appealing as far a decent sport-Tourer is concerned, that too not burning a big black-hole in my pocket. What others have on their mind?
One thing no one came with the "new toys coming in market b/w-250-600CC segment"

@deepak@85: You haven't really stated your exact requirements. The array of bikes you mentioned cover almost every bike from 150-800grands ranging from sport tourers to track demons to cruiser. If you are serious on buying one am sure you have certain requirements. State them here and am sure you would get enough assistance.

For head's up here are a few points you should have covered in your 1st post :

                  1. Kind of Riding : Commuting + touring or just commuting or purely touring or are you looking to hit the tracks
                  2. Budget(One of the prime factors)

@Mods : I guess this section needs to have a sticky thread stating a format to start a new thread.

                  Cheers!!!

Janta, i have been transferred to Dehradun for a week.... now after a week i will join some more deep Uttrakhand Hilly terrain, today rode a FZ from Dehradun to Massurie, love those corners... again noted a sense of aggression while approaching corners.... i think CBR250R wud be a better choice with a mix of Gud Touring+decent cornering experience.... also on way back to Dehradun in evening noticed CBR 1000RR. I think its going to be a great experience for my coming 3 years....., net connectivity is rarely available.. sorry for late responses..... whats your say.....?
