You may go for suzuki gs150r.It reatils for maximum 70k.mileage more than 45kmpl, very smooth engine, good pillion seat, pickup is comparitively low but for city riding the low end torque is very utilizable for the novice riders or for lazy riders like me.6th gear is a boon for highway cruising.
the only disadvantage could be lack of sale and service in your area, otherwise it is a very good bike & is well under your budget.

Even the ZMR is a good option..
It has got good built quality, crisp throttle response as it is fuel injected,GRS suspension, mileage hovers around 35-40/lt and it can give even more than that and it will easily last 5-6 years

+1 Karizma is a great option.

and avenger if your dad is used to the cruiser style riding.

R15 is a no no, as it can induce back ache. P220 not great for pillion comfort.
Been obsessed with momentum ever since i was born, but 0 - 200kmph took 30yrs! This will do for now!

@ Everyone thanks for the replies.

I have shortlisted 2 bikes p220 and zma-r, r15 and zmr will be above my budget range. R15 will not suit my build told my dad about my choices he said a big no to p220 he told me to go for zma-r even if it cost more than p220. Today I went to the hero moto corp showroom to my surprise there where no zma-r's only zmr's asked the the sale guys he told me that zma's will be available only after 2 months if i book it today but the zmr's are readily available and he told me zma are selling more than zmr's.

                    Here are some more queries

                    * will any bike which will be launched in the next 2 month be in my budget range. I have heard the new r15 will be price @ 1 lakh is it true ??
                    * are tubed tyres more prone to punctures than the tubeless tyres.
                    * after zma-r break-in period if i ride it at higher speed say 100 kmph during weekends will the mileage permanently settle down to 25kmpl even if i ride the bike at 50 kmph.
                    * should i be concerned about the absence of rear disk bake in the zma.

strange that nobody has even mentioned the rtr

anyways my suggestion would be the rtr-abs or non abs as per your choice

it falls into your budget has good pickup ans amazing handling.........

true. ZMR was somewhat a flop.

All speculations. Nothing official has come from yamaha.

not really. the advantage of tubeless tyres is that air leaks at a slower pace. So you can ride it for a few KMs even after it has punctured

WTF ? where do you get all these things from? Funny nevertheless.

nope. the drums are decent. the front disk is very powerful too.

                          @eliksir thanks buddy
I have Booked black karizma zma-r few days back. Apart from low fuel efficiency(than competition) and expensive spare parts are there any other issues with the bike. Will there be any need for extra care apart from regular service. few day back saw few black karizma which faded quite badly is it due to lack of proper maintenance or do black karizma fade after sometime? if not please tell me how to take care If I buy the bike.

any bike will fade if not maintained well. just clean with wax occasionally or get a teflon coating done and things will be fine
