@nashrider - buddy it seems highly unlikely that the gixxer 750 would come for that price considering that the difference in international pricing for both the variants isn't all that great.

Unless they bring it in after assembling it in Thailand i don't see the gsx r 750 coming anywhere close to the price you mentioned.

After the recent MAJOR update to Gixxer 750, it weighs under 190 kgs wet. And Busa, about 260 kgs. Hayabusa is known for its low to mid range torque which negates its weight well.
In Busa, the third gear can carry city speeds easily, and the sixth one can handle 50 kmph or so...

I have come across few owners of 750 who were clear that its a great bike, just the right gap between 600 and 1000s. And very reliable too, but those were from 1985, 2004, etc.

So remember, with the recent major update to the 750, we can't be very sure how road friendly and reliable it is, until we purchase it...

And also, I've no idea about 750R's release. News were many: GSR 600's release, and a 500cc bike too, etc... But none of this materialised in these 3 years.

Just around 4 weeks ago I had been to Akshay automobiles in Malad to enquire about the Hayabusa . This is when the sales guy told me that they were in the process of launching the GSX 600/750 with the tag as Gsx Extreme for India . He also told me that the models had been sent for testing to ARAI(I really dnt know what is ARAI) in Pune and would be mostly showcased at the Auto Expo in Delhi around Jan 2012 after which bokkings should start.
I have read the threads of almost all Hayabusa owners who are mostly all praises for their bike . I really cant see any cons for the Bike other than some smart alecs who list "not affording a bike " as a con .

Well im sure if I buy something so expensive I too would happily say that I really dnt care about tandoori thighs or tandoori @@##s .... just let the passion push me . But I really would like to make a good decision here .

I want the bike for
-Weekend rides
-A good show stopper
-Sometimes long rides like (Mum-Mount Abu /Mum - S.india)

I presently have a RE Thunderbird for my daily commuting . Hence the use of this bike will be exclusively only for the special rides .

I really feel that maybe I am looking at the wrong Class of bikes too. Any suggestions would be welcome. Its just that I have been taken up by a lot of owners and their threads praising their bikes .However I read the thread by Arup and also heard the news regds Kriss which put me in the middle of the fence.

I really love big bikes especially after I rode a CBR1000RR in Bangkok during my holiday there , I was completely floored . However whenever I got of the bike , I used to take atleast a2-3 hours trying to get my back straightened out but nonetheless it never did stop me from getting on the bike again and again..

My budget is a humble 10L (+/-) .

So its definately a second hand Gixxer 1300 or a brand new 650

.....

I think that they will try and get their pricing right as they need to get a fair enough market share from the mouth of Kawasaki /Hyosung /KTM and soon enough to be launched the Ducati Indian Monster 795.

Based on your post, I would add that more than 2 years ago, we got news about GSXR750's homologation through ARAI, and suggested price was Rs. 10 Lacs back then & it hasn't appeared yet. Of course, it takes a long time, like the FZ1 took more than 1 year, after its homologation news appeared in press.

Kriss', Siddharth's and other guy's accidents are always a unique case. It may not happen again. Many guys have kept Hayabusa for years without crashing it. A sane man in favourable conditions can cruise it at 60 kmph too, all day.

And although Busa's not a corner craving and racing machine, its good handling means that you can go for an acceptable lean angle, if the need arises.


Today, I will suggest only one thing:- Wait for some time more, like upto March '12.

Choices are increasing, and prices are dropping (segment-wise). Years ago, we couldn't even think about a 600cc within INR 5 Lacs on road. Today we can... Future will be even better with the ever increasing competition and more releases in the Auto Expo 2012.

If you purchase something now, and see something better at the Expo, it won't be a satisfying decision for the long term.

In the mean time I would hope for the guys to give me updates on the various choices...they have made whether good or bad ...
