From your list above, my suggestion would be in this preferance.
1. Suzuki GS150R - good seat(comfort for pillion)
2. Pulsar 135 - Performance of 150 cc with mileage of 125cc + good looks


As for the above quote, speed and machines are genetically encoded in every man's genes. Some realise it earlier, some later, some supress it due to other reasons. Go for 150 cc so that you dont feel lack of power with pillion and can enjoy the power sometimes when alone.

My suggestion to you would be the Suzuki Slingshot+ [125cc]
VFM in my opinion, very good for city rides
Suits well as a family bike
Offers good mileage figures
56,672 is the On-road price according to the official Suzuki India website
Go for a test drive, if not satisfied go for the TVS Sport [100cc]

[150cc] Since you dont like Honda bikes i am not suggesting the Unicorn Dazzler(the second best 150 after R15)

I guess the p135 has better mileage and better power to weight ratio, its very light weight and technically advanced...

Today the two wheeler market has not only increased but also developed. What I mean to say is that manufacturers have understood the different needs of the public. Yes, 150cc used to be for youth who want speed and style. But now the scenario has changed. By the criteria you have mentioned it is a commuter that you need.
CBZ is a good bike with honda's trusted mill. But there are a some issues. The bike is a little tall, mileage is on the lower side(45 max) and style(personal opinion).

Hunk also shares the same engine and can be used as a commuter. I'm not sure about pillion comfort since it is a sporty bike. Looks really good. Mileage-50(maybe a little more).

P135 is again sporty and good bike but I guess it is specifically desingned to be a street bike for the youth and also the bike is cramped in terms of pillion comfort. Mileage-55+

GS150R is also a good bike and is not much sporty like the others and also proves to be a good commuter. And that extra 6th gear helps the bike to be frugal. Butter smooth engine. Service has been an issue but in chennai I guess it shouldn't be a problem.(Do ask other suzuki customers)

Other options I would suggest are Yamaha SZ-R and Bajaj Boxer 150. SZ-R is a commuter but still mileage is not upto the mark(45 max). Boxer is utterly ugly but will definitely be frugal(60 I guess).

125cc- You can consider Honda Shine(which should not have waiting period), good bike with a smooth engine and enough power to pull two comfortably. Mileage is good I've heard but have no idea about the figures. Only drawback I guess is 4-speed gear box!!!

Discover 125 is good but I would go for 100 rather than the 125. 100 has a better price tag and VFM. Excellent mileage(70+).

Stay away from Suzuki Zeus. Flop product.HH(or Hero) Super Splendor and Glamour are good too but do not hit the senses in many ways. Say looks!!!

I would suggest you to go for a 150cc as they feel more comfortable and less strained.
PS: Pls mention what mileage you are expecting so that people can help you precisely.

Sir, I think Bajaj Discover 150 suits your needs well. It's powerful enough and has good fuel efficiency.

Do you really think P135 is a suitable bike for a family man who wants to ride with his wife and kid ?? Pillion comfort is important for him. P135 is not suitable at all IMHO.

Obviously you'll be confused!!! All the ones you listed above are not known for FE, they're known for best of both the worlds of power & FE.

100cc - Great FE
125cc - More or less powered as much as 100cc combined with FE
150cc - More powered than 100cc & yields less FE than 100cc

Lol!!! What has age & family man got to do with owning a ride I'm a family man a little over your age & I ride CBR 250R!!! Buy something that you love to ride & needs; not for the sake of family!!!

So if waiting time is brought down, are you saying you'll be impressed with Honda

My only suggestion to you will be - define your requirements right; think other than FE & pillion comfort, they're just by products.

Define in terms of what you need & prioritize them & you can find the answers yourself.

I would suggest Discover 150. Good bike, nice mileage and good comfort too. Wont cost much for maintenance too. Take a TD if you can.

sir i would suggest you the pulsar 135 .it might look small but its got all the goodies the big bike got. seats are really comfortable,pillion one is more comfortable. as you said you are a sane rider you can chunk out good milage from its 135cc mill if you ride sanely.
and if you want more milege go for discover 150.

P135's pillion seat is comfortable as any but getting on that P135's pillion seat is a task in itself.. Talking from recent personal experience with a girl pillion who was just moderately on heavier side & still complaining over seat height.. So if the thread starter finally zeroes down to P135, i would sincerely request him to take his wife for a test ride on P135 before getting it.. If pillion seat isn't an issue, look no further then P135.. A real VFM product

Well i do really think so... i dont find its seats uncomfortable...
Disco 150 is also a good option.

Getting on the P135 pillion seat would be a challenge for women, especially if they are wearing sarees and stuff.

The seat may be comfortable but not easy to get on. As a matter of fact, none of the split seat bikes are suitable for ladies. This is from my personal experience. If you want your girlfriend to ride with you then it's a different story though

its best for male pillion cus they are wide and well cushioned give perfect butt rest.

Exactly my point.. As i said earlier even girlfriend's may not be so comfortable to CLIMB ON to the pillion seat.. My friend's GF was very comfortable with his Unicorn as well as my FZ or P150 etc but she started complaining as soon as my friend got P135.. Getting up & down is a big task for ladies even with jeans/trousers let alone be saree out of the equation But yes, once you're on the pillion seat, its as comfortable as you can get with the most comfortable pillion seats.

True !! I enjoyed pillion rides on P135 more than pillion rides on FZ..
But then again, any bike's pillion seat would be more comfortable than FZ's
