  • Ninja 250 or 650 for a new entrant

Hi everyone, First a little background on my motorcycling I have ridden RX-100, YBX, CBZ and currently have royal enfield electra, I am more of a tourer less of a speed and cornering junkie and like to cruise at a comfertable 80-100 kmph band.

I am now thinking of upgrading myself from classic bullet to a more modern sports tourer and have only the two ninja brothers on mind the 250 and 650.
price difference is not a criteria,as this would be my first fully faired bike with fuel injection, faster acceleration and many other goodies so what is the best bet a cautious entry into this league with a 250 or a direct cc upgrade from 350cc bullet to a 650cc Ninja

The bike will be used for touring and city riding both though mostly touring

please give your advice so I can reach to a decision.

    thanks and regards
    Saurabh

+1 I would say that 650 is more of a tourer than its younger sibling. And since touring is your priority go for it!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Since you have both in option, I suppose budget is not an issue. Still I would suggest, for the 250R. You need to learn to walk before you learn to run. Happy shopping!

that's exactly my concern but contrary opinion voiced here is that 650 is a better tourer

Yes, but by then you would probably have the Triumph middle weight, the Honda middle weight, the Yamaha tourer, the New Pulsar, the KTM and so many more things! So whats the point of the thread na

The answer is 650, you have already done lot of 150 cc bikes to get easily adjusted to 650, Going to 250 wont make sense.

But now the Ninja 650 is not open for booking also, Only option in 650 is Hysong 650. Since you are a cruiser, maybe you could consider Harley superlow.

a proper bike is only a litre class bike and giving you more than 100 ps. you cannot be starting with a 100 cc than 200 cc 600 cc etc. the real bike is a 1000 cc bike which you should aim for. ninja 250 is a track focused bike with very tight specs for the race track. ninja 650 is the road version. except for a bigger engine there is not much to compare between the 2 ninjas. for bad roads ninja 250 is quite bad compared to 650. but otherwise ninja 250 is pretty good. rememember ninja 250 is at present the best quarter litre bike in the world, unfortunately not the ninja 650.

it is your hard earned money. but possibly you can enjoy all fruits of a good bike with a ninja 250, track, roads, speed like a ninja 650 and after a year or 2 you can switch to a 1000 cc bike quite comfortably as you have only invested 3 lakhs.( i hate attention hence i am having black ninja but failed on this ) but ninja 250 turns more heads than the ninja 650 when both are together if that is some thing in your list )

The 250 is not a tourer ...seating egros on the long will hurt your wrists ..the 650 is better and has a better seating position for 2 up too... decide on your priorities ....ride em...min 1 hr each before you decide...
If you not living close to the edge ...... your taking up too much space
