Nitro shocks have proved their worth and they are being used in all Pulsar/Discover models (&Apache models by TVS). Going by your statement, all Discover/Pulsar models should face suspension problems within two years usage, needless to say ground reality is different.

To answer the query, yes seat can be made softer by adding cushion, that's what most P135LS owners do. Changing shocks to soft setting will lead to a slight compromise in handling, but only at higher speeds.

I did not mean to say that Discover has suspension problem! I just said after 1-2 years the nitro might not be that effective or it was some defect in his bike batch of output, but the shock absorber is still good now, but ofcourse what soft feel we got when riding new bike isnt there for which we need to buy new set of shock and redo fork overhaul as mentioned by the SVC, all of which costs about around 3K and we can claim insurance if we want to.

Also, as for the cushioning seat and changing shock to soft suspension, I too told the same words right, if I am not wrong that on highways its gonna be an issue, not city..
So buying P135 must not be an issue just of the shock or seats, it should give him the feel that he wants that bike. Which he only can decide.

It looks like an CBZ mated with tiny tank, shock absorbers and chain to run on semi-cross roads like those in villages or city when rain has damaged all roads with potholes,
Those small time race event guys have been modding for fiero, cbz, yamaha RX from long time. Now its time on these small rally to see Impulse taking its position.

I am more worried about the mud splatter from such bikes to the rider and others around in city when it rains! Also the small tank and high shocks, might not give you good stability and mileage to cover long journeys on highways.

m new here in thiis forum but what about CB Twister? very light weight.. awesome mileage.. yeah honda has shortage of spare parts but a little compromise is okay if it suits ur height!

Twister is infact a smaller ver engine of Unicorn, and to talk of it is good but it has quite a few issues of its own and doesnt have enough juice to pull through 2 ppl on highway. Its afterall 100cc bike! And at highspeed its mileage is almost as much as 150cc bikes and it costs almost 62k!

You can consider Apache Fi or the RTR 160. It would complement your height and if you don't abuse it, it won't abuse your pockets. It will also give you all the adrenaline rush you need.

Apache is good choice though!(except the engine vibes at higher speeds!) parts are easily available in my city atleast!

Note: Bangalore has the highest road tax, my cousin's friend got a twister 5 months back for about Rs.61,xxx on road for the ver with SELF & DISK. Including extra fitting and full tank petrol, riding gear,thicker tyres etc. He spent close to 65K.

Also I myself visited honda last month while deciding my bike, and confirmed the basic twister was 56k and one with disc brake 62k.
So my yamaha 150cc at 67k felt indeed better. For that matter even the basic ver of SZ is 49k+tax.

My friend owns it and has recently done 700km rides with pillion all with straight highways and off roading too with no issues at all!
You'll love the bike if u like leaner lighter bikes although with no performance!

You are mightily mistaken here too! ( and no I'm not a Apache FanBoy ) TVS has one of the best parts on a bike! I've done close to 16K kms in 11 months and all touring and I do not have a single issue which irritated me! Every bike will have its own issues with good amount of running!

For your height, Apache 160 (or 180) will suit you. the 160 gives close to 50-52 kmpl which is what you require and both 160/180 are well within your budget! Be Warned : Apaches are not smooth like FZs.. These have grunty engines and a smal vibrating range of 6-7K rpm which you will get adjusted to. But for sure you will fall in love with the throttle response on this bike!

Fazer/FZ obviously has killer looks and amazing handling but nothing apart from that!

SZR is a decent bike with no special characteristics

Forget the Duke! Way over your budget!

P150 is way too common IMO

But I would say wait until the Jan AutoExpo as many manufacturers will be getting some face-lifted model to counter the duke

For 85k and your height, Apache is the best bet. It has track bike like handling and throttle response. The engine has won many accolades for it high revving nature. Also, spare parts price availability and service will not be an issue at all. If you can stretch your budget be another 6k, you can get the ABS version of the A180.

1. I know ppl with splendor having covered even more than 500km, you just need the zeal for it. Just told what I experienced, at 70kmph the twister felt uncomfy on highway for me, the streach I ride to college has quite bit of up/down sway uneven road.
2. I am not cooking up story, it actually happened on my friends pulsar, maybe faulty piece as I told in the next post.
3. My only exp. With apache was 500km journey from bangalore covering hassan and back same day. you wont believe that the machine took all the abuse I pushed the throttle and it responded likewise. Yes, it was serviced before we began the journey, and it vibrated a lot at the high speeds, but one fact is that the bike did not skid or drop us when the back tyre got punctured and we rode same bike for few km till we could get a cycle patch fixed to it. Then it was a hump that we jumped and after 60km we observe engine oil has all leaked, thanks to idot at svc who did not thread the nut properly anddue to vibrations it got loose and fell off. waited till smoking engine cooled and pushed it, then rode 2km without oil and at petrol bunk filled some different grade oil and drove back to city. Even with such a good tale, I have many who own apache and everyones tale is the service quality sucks nd bike mileage is around 40 only. and as for the above bike its stil running fine giving 33kmpl and has covered 29k km.
I might add the bike you have must be good, ask around with others for its issues.

All the flaws you have mentioned are faulty workmanship with individual bikes rather than design flaw of the bike.

Exactly thats what I wanted to say, apache is a beast and you need a good mechanic who can take care of it and it will be the best ride you own!
