you are talking about "No Maintance".....
It is strictly Honda Unicorn(If styling is not a factor)...
Stretch your budget and get a much more powerful and able tourer - Karizma ZMA...
Or compromise a little on reliability and get the beautiful, tech laden FZ-s..
Choose any of the 3---- u wld never b dissapointed...

Thanks everyone for you advice. I've test driven (only short drives) these and a lot many bikes except the Stunner Fi. I have shortlisted considering the short drives I had. I now want to make a final decision based on the long term reports of the bikes esp, the reliability and maintenance costs part.

I guess I have to tell about my background. I used to ride my Dad's Honda Shine previously and it was one serious quality piece of engineering. I really enjoyed its quality. It was never a tourer though an excellent city bike. Shine set a benchmark

After going through your replies, I see that most of you went with Yamaha FZ. Looks like I have to shorten my list again.
      • Honda Unicorn Dazzler
        • Liked the rounded nature of the bike.

      • Yamaha FZ-16
        • The brakes blew me away. They are the best on any motorcycle I have ever driven.

I know we can't replace the engine but can we get the FZ front disc brake on the UniDaz?

I'll get a 2012 model by the end of this month. So, I'm not in a hurry

I think very few ppl would agree to going with dazzler for its cost and waiting period. I recommend you check out the ownership forum regarding dazzler before you decide on it. The parts are really costly and availability too a question mark, unlike for unicorn which you can get easily, so rather than dazzler you must look at comparing unicorn and FZ.
I still feel the FZ is a better option on long run as you quoted.

There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

I'd suggest you go for hunk. I'm 6'2 and i've take my bro's hunk for 400km. . And i didn't have any problem with it (except that it's a little underpowered for serious touring). . If you could extend your budget go for pulsar220. It's a very good tourer according to me and it's quite comfortable too.

ZMA .PERFECT TOURER.stretch your budget.don't listen too much as there is no replacement for displacement.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

if you have budget then go for karizma otherwise hunk is a good option as you are looking for a comfortable tourer....fz is a good city bike but its ride quality is on stiffer side....plus hunk will give you better mileage then fz and low maintainece cost...

one more thing, mileage of fz and karizma 2011 is almost same where as karizma will give you much needed power and torque for long highway rides...but fz lacks on power front....karizma can ride on 100+ speeds comfortably but fz will hardly accelerate or go beyond 105....infact its acceleration is good upto 90 kmph mark only...

lookwise fz looks coool and its a very good city bike but as far as touring is concerned, it will not serve your purpose that well...

go for karizma if you can stretch your budget by 10-12k.....it will give you fun of high speeds with almost same mileage figures....
              sigpic
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith and use up a lot of fuel....

Harish, Did you test ride the new Hero Impulse?. I'd suggest you give it a try and give in your views on the same. its basically a Honda with a Hero badge. It has the same engine as that of hunk, gives 53kmpl (as per some ownership reviews), has provision to attach a rear pannier and has the suspension to go over any road. Also the best average cruising speed for a bike on good tarmac would be 80-90km/hr. which this bike Might be capable of.

close your eyes and go for FZ
dazzler parts are rare and costly ......it is also semi flaired
FZ is a naked street bike so it will be good for crusing ..... it tyre is nice and grippy

you can try impulse as said above ......... every indian bumper/Pit is as smooth as running on asphalt road
