  • A bike in 70 - 90k range...

I owned a used Pulsar 180cc 2006 model for one and half years. I bought that bike from my first two months salary . I loved the bike and its performance. Becuase of my bad luck, I met with two (Yes, two) accidents as the front disc break skid me in the road covered by sand. As a consequence, got heavy wound marks and few stitches in the chin (Thanks to the helmets that saved my lives)

As a punishment, my parents asked me to sell that pulsar and gave an 2003 model TVS victor to commute to office, which I'm currently using for almost an year.

To my surprise and because of my respsonsible driving style , my parents consented to buy me a new bike next month . Please suggsest me a good bike.

    My requirements:

Usage : Daily Office commuting and monthly one weekend ride (300kms to and fro)
Looks : Very important. Prefer a muscular build.
Milage : Anything above 35kms is okay.
    Power : 150cc or above.
    Price : 70 - 90K
Comfort : Yes. Want it to be very comfortable.

    My shortlist:

    1) Yamaha FZ16 - Midnight Black
    2) Yamaha Fazer - Competion White (Is the lack of crash guard a serious problem? )
    3) TVS Apacher 180 ABS (Heard after few years the parts tend to become loose)
    4) Pulsar 150 (Somebody please tell me when the new model is scheduled to be released)

    Ruled out:

    1) Unicorn (I don't want that family man looks)
    2) Dazzlers ( Again fails in the looks section)
    3) Suzuki (Don't know. I don't really feel excited about GS150R)

I can stretch my budget, for a good bike (But no R15 as the pillion seat is bit weird, according to me.)

my pick is rtr abs or may want to wait for new pulsars to be unveiled
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
      #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

TVS apache RTR 180 ABS,all the way.
You've already experienced the pain of not having ABS on your bike so you better get this one
And the rest are rumors and do not pay heed to them.RTR's are well built.
I did not find it to be very comfortable beyond 10-15 minutes of riding.

          Hi Kishr

Has you mention here about few bikes then I would like to share my view as I had used all these bikes and got some feedback also so Yamaha FZ16 and Yamaha Fazer both are good looking and stylish bike but need high maintenance so drop them out coming to next which are TVS Apache 180 ABS and Pulsar 150 both bikes are most demanded and have great performance specially Apache had great pickup and power then pulser.

One more thing I would like to tell you that while driving for long in pulser can give pain in your shoulder. I would you suggest you for the one of the best bike prices in India which is Apache its resell value is high and you can also check out the first hero bike which is Hero Impulse its look like dirt bike made for both off and on road ride.

            hello,
1.IMO you should go with karizma as you mentioned touring and daily commute i feel its best suited.
2.if u don't want karizma then go for Apache rtr180abs.
3.If you can wait for 2 months you can have a look at pulsar200ns.News is that bajaj will be launching it next fiscal year.
Whenever i see bikes or cars i see adrenalin pumps instead of people carriers.Thats the way to define an automobile.

Go for the RTR ABS. ABS will definitely prevent skidding because of wheels locking up. Plus it will give you confidence to ride a little faster.

u have nailed it down perfectly buddy..

                1) Yamaha FZ16 - Midnight Black
--> Naked bike.. awesome lowend.. good grip due to wide rear tyre. yamaha technology.

                2) Yamaha Fazer - Competion White (Is the lack of crash guard a serious problem? )
--> same as Fz, with fairing.. might feel a bit underpowered due to extra weight and expectations by seeing a bigger bike.. good till 90.. topspeed 105-110 with iridium spark and FS oil..

                3) TVS Apacher 180 ABS (Heard after few years the parts tend to become loose)
--> TVS is a separate segament.. light weight with awesome power.. good cornering.. but tourers seems to be liking it less.. test ride it once..

                4) Add P200NS there. but its bajaj.. so quality issues will come forward after launch only.

                happy riding..

Check out and test ride an Impulse,
Its a very good bike and a decent fuel consumption of around 50kmpl,
Beautiful suspension setup and nice road handling too. Finally its a Honda design.

but impulse goes opposite to your requirement of Muscular look !!
