If weekend city rides are your need, then FZ it is. You might also like the Fazer. These bikes are a boon in Bangalore traffic.
In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

I agree that the P200 NS looks lovely ! Maybe even beats the FZ in looks ( thats a big maybe ...but possible :P ). But from what I have seen, the track record of Pulsars as compared to the Japanese bike makers (Honda, Yamaha) taking smooth gear system, refined engine, small details (like parts rusting?) into consideration isnt as good. Pulsars are good dependable solid machines but somehow the Japanese really are the best in giving a really smooth engine & gear experience.

Maybe Bajaj's alliance with the Austrians (KTM) will change this....but it will take a lot of months to find out...Pulsar 200 NS comes out in April....reviews taken over a period of time (as seen in the various ownership threads) will take some more months...Can't w8 for it. Besides the weight of the Pulsar 200NS still is quite heavy..146 kg or so...a newbie like me might be better off with a lighter bike

Might go for a Pirelli Sports tyre if I face flats regularly....but thats something for the future. Good to hear abt the maintenance part...Bless the makers of such machines

In a city, FZ16 is a better choice than Fazer...especially due to the fairing the Fazer has. Besides I prefer muscled bikes without fairings

        Yamaha FZ Summary :

        Advantages :
        1. As mentioned by others - Its a great City Street Fighter. The make of the bike, the wide rear wheel allow for easy turning & handling on traffic filled city roads.
        2. Great pickup & acceleration @ lower speeds. Not very good @ the higher speed ranges but not a concern for a 1st time biker !
        3. Smooth engine & gear system.
        4. Looks
        5. No perceptible vibrations. (Some of you prefer vibrations..while some find it very irritating. A 1st time biker like me hasn't experienced it yet...but as long as it doesn't help you, might as well avoid it )
        6. Low maintenance.

        Disadvantages :
        1. Mileage of 40-45 kmpl. The best mileage bikes will have ordinary tyres, looks will take a backseat since least weight has to be maintained & will probably have minimum features. Other bikes with low mileage might have better performance (Pulsar 220cc ?) but FZ has superior handling, gear system. So I chose ease of riding + looks in place of performance &/or mileage.

After all this.....I am 95% sure that the Yamaha FZ 16 will be my 1st bike. Will book it mostly on Feb 7,2012...this date cause I feel its an easy date to remember for the future

I have been reading the Ownership thread of FZ16 for a long time now....still 800 pages to go .....keeping 5% uncertainty incase I encounter something really bad in it

Just posted my 1st entry to the FZ16 ownership thread. A question on the right color - Midnight Black or Lava Red. Didn't think this was the right place to ask that question.
Some advantages for red though I prefer black. Please check it out @ http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post768122

Great choice bro! FZ16 is as practical for city riding as it can get.

[One minor correction in your research - KTM Duke is NOT under powered. It's the most powerful bike among the ones in your wishlist. But kudos bro, great research work.]

Go for mid-nite black. That'll add to the looks. A dark muscular lord of the streets. It couldn't get any meaner.
All the best for the bike and hope to see your riding/ownership experience(s) soon.

          Cheers...

There has been a misunderstanding. Never said KTM Duke 200 was underpowered. Bikes with the best mix of power, looks, easy handling usually are found @ high prices. The KTM Duke is a great bike. Might have gone for it if it was cheaper.

I want to go for a Black FZ16. But red possibly has some advantages on it regarding maintenance & safety. Check out my question here.

Thanks for your wishes. Will surely write about my upcoming experience

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                  #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.
