  • Looking for Add-On bike

    Hello Friends,
I own and rode Pulsar 150 DTSi since 2004, and I love for my daily commuting, hence its going nowhere from my stable, now I am looking for a Add On..

In past 8 years, I rode the following Bike (All of them for at-least 500Km)
    Karizma
    P150,P180,P200, P220
    Enfield 350
    Apache
    Unicorn
most of the 100cc from all the manufactures.

I am 5' 11", about 86 KG (Solid build not Cheese Filled )

when I started looking for a new Add-on Bike I had the following in My Mind.

    1. Enfield Classic 500
    2. Honda CBR 250R

then it happened, I saw the KTM Duke 200, and took a test drive, I loved the light weight and nice handling. (and its cheaper then the above 2 )

    My Riding Habits are like..
    1. I love cutting corners
    2. I do love long rides in a relaxed mood cruising at no more than 60-70.
    3. and on open highway, I like to touch the red lines on the meter
    4. I like to drive fast but not stupid.
    5. I don't like to race with anyone on the road but myself (and time sometimes ).

Now after all the things with the news of Thunderbird 500 on the horizon (I know about 6 months in launch and then about same waiting period) I have removed the CL500 from my list, because I am sure(about 90%) that I will be booking 1..

so for Now I am stuck between Duke 200 and CBR 250 for now, what are your opinions on this... which one should I go for..

    Please suggest...
    Ride and Let Ride.. :-)

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Yes, duke does fulfill most of your requirements..but don't you think it's bit too small for you.?!!

          @Sayank10 :
Thanks for your suggestions, I have opted for Duke 200 and have booked it on the last Friday..

          @W4rrior:
I test drove the bike myself just because of this confusion that maybe its a bit smaller.. but I found it comfortable to enjoy the ride..

I will update as soon as KTM delivers it to me...

if it is going to be your second bike, dump CBR.. its an all purpose great bike but nothing special..

here would have been my choice -->
            1. R15 -- best cornering and pocket rocket..
            2. KTM - naked, good torque, good handling
            3. Classic 500 - no alternate to bullet

Chances are if you go for any of the first two, will sell up P150 as there you would be using these only for commuting..

then you can think of CBR250 as well.. which can not be a second bike.. but a perfect upgrade/replacement for a 150 cc relaxed commuter..

                being all-rounder itself is special.

Well I am planning something else for the P150.. it will be my MOD experimenting horse from now on.. I will try some new things on it now... as its totally in stock condition and on a routine of regular servicing after every 2-3 months... I will try to gear it up for some fun.. :-)

and The 'DUKE' will soon walk the roads...

                        great
                        congrats for duke..

P150, I wouldn't bet my 2 cents on having upgrade on that.. a bike like R15, CBR etc are well sutied for R&D, as their basic structure is very well designed.. I will say, if you want, go for some modes with P150 and if you feel more problems are popping up rather then happiness, don't think again before selling it off..

                        ride on..
