  • Confused between the Trio!

I am extremely confused about what to buy and I need your help to help me decide.
I have a Sept 2011 Pulsar 135 LS and I love to go for long rides but my bike feels inadequate for saddle sores and touring.
Which of the following bikes would be the best suited for my needs :-

    Pulsar 200 NS
    Ktm Duke 200
    Honda CBR 250

Are there any upcoming bikes I need to be aware of?

My budget -1.5 Lakh (not a paisa more!) I plan to get the bike by April or May at the most.

    My constraints :-

Decent fuel economy (35-45 kmpl in city+highway)

    Low maintenance

Rear pillion should be comfortable as I will have company

Easy city commuting - Will be commuting 30-50 km each day from home to office and often to meetings

I was all set on the KTM duke and was about to book it but the pulsar 200ns review has muddled me up. The CBR, which I rode has failed to impress me in any way. It doesn't compare to the KTM Duke which I really loved and the test drive was pure fun!
The only gripe for me is that the KTM has a 60 day waiting period in my city (Ahmedabad) and the Pulsar 200 NS isn't available yet.

My height is 6"0 Feet and I weigh 76 Kgs.

On a side note how much should I expect for my Pulsar 135 LS (Black) in tip top condition, Spet 2011 registration with 4500 KM on the ODO?

      Hello bro,

Pls consider a few more bikes. Pulsar and Duke are brand new bikes, so wait till the bikes settle in the market. Flaws of a new bike will start showing only after a while. But hope these bikes stand upto their claimed standards. Plus both bikes will be comfy on highway except for the wind blast problem due to the absence of windshield (given in xbhp review of Pulsar NS). CBR250 is suppose be a proper touring bike. The bike is not peppy yet has good power for touring. And you cannot expect anything above 35kmpl from these bikes(Except the Pulsar claimed for its 58kmpl) Consider Karizma R. A bike worth the money. Drawbacks are that the bike is dated and feels powerless compared to the above mentioned bikes. The biggest problem I would say is the HERO name tagged!!! The bike will surely return 40kmpl on highway. If you have time wait for the faired version of Pulsar which should be out soon. But if you are in a hurry I would suggest the CBR.

I would go with CBR 250R, the reason being it's tested enough + It's HONDA.. HONDA is known for Quality, price and more of it's a 250 CC.. If you plan on modding, you can do alot more with a 250cc bike then u can with a already buffed 200cc bike..

Duke 200 and Plusar 200 NS are already buffed bikes, they come out with stock maxed performance, while 250cc bikes have more mod range to take more performance outta the bike....

If you want a pocket rockets go with Plusar 200NS or Duke 200 but if you want a bike that u can drive and + want to get into mods then I would go with CBR 250R..

At the end it's your personal choice which bike you want to go with..
CBR 250R:- Honda, good, modds are nice, one of the few bikes that has less mantiance...

Plusar 200 NS: New Bike, noone knows how it will perform but it's a Bajaj

Duke 200: Bajaj launched them, pretty sure.. It's a by product of Bajaj with forgen parts.. Will be awesome..

Pulsar 200 NS.although not recommended for touring xbhpians will do so.
Ktm Duke 200 as you already know in and out fun to ride bike.
Honda CBR 250i would rather choose that,

Are there any upcoming bikes I need to be aware of?cbr 150 r.

My budget -1.5 Lakh (not a paisa more!) stretch it if you want cbr.

            My constraints :-

Decent fuel economy (35-45 kmpl in city+highway)leave aside duke.

Low maintenanceleave aside duke, pulsar will rule here.

Rear pillion should be comfortable as I will have companycbr wins hands down.

Easy city commuting - Will be commuting 30-50 km each day from home to office and often to meetingsi would choose p200ns in this case.

I was all set on the KTM duke and was about to book it but the pulsar 200ns review has muddled me up. The CBR, which I rode has failed to impress me in any way. It doesn't compare to the KTM Duke which I really loved and the test drive was pure fun!
            so you want raw power.
The only gripe for me is that the KTM has a 60 day waiting period in my city (Ahmedabad) and the Pulsar 200 NS isn't available yet.
            can't you wait it out?
On a side note how much should I expect for my Pulsar 135 LS (Black) in tip top condition, Spet 2011 registration with 4500 KM on the ODO?expect anything between 40-45k.start bargaining with 50 k.
my words are highlighted.see if you tour extensively then either choose zma[rather than zmr] or p220[although p200ns has arrived],if you want to spend more then cbr,if want high revving machine which you definitely want then p200ns[for vfm proposition] or duke[if you want to spend more].

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Decided to go for the Pulsar 200NS - its the best and most vfm of the lot as well the most balanced option of the three. I hate full fairings and found the Honda to not match the Duke in peppiness. The honda felt heavier. I will go ahead with booking the pulsar on day one!

@ SUnny... The 200Ns has a lineage of PULSAR. which has IMHO left a forgettable history of spare quality and service. The peppiness will definetly make you do abnormal things with the bike; is Bajaj ready for the maintenance??

                        Hey sunny27
Frankly speaking you should drop the idea of buying duke as this bike and the company is new to Indian market so it will be very hard to get its service and parts also another bile is CBR very good in appearance, fully laded with power, style but need more maintenance. So I would suggest you for new Pulser its maintained, service and parts will cost you less as rest two bikes and the most important thing is that this bike as hugest resell value then any other bike prices in India. So go for it.
