  • The dilemma starts

Well I've been ridin my beloved[RD for the uninitiated] for a good 10 years now and I think it's time for the upgrade, well atleast let the Idea sink in so that I will start the process somewhere.[ My RD's are not for sale so dn't haggle with me on that issue].

Well a lot of my friends have R1's R6's Harley's so on and so forth, but thats not my thing yet. My question is for the experts with a thinking that has nothin to do with boxes so here goes,

    a. Can I import a Norton Commando 916 into India who can do this and how much wud it cost me. Also is the new bike really that worth it?

    b. Are there any weird/crazy bikes out there that stand out from the rest somethin from France or Husqvarna etc etc

    c. If nothin else how bout this comparo Kawasaki Z1000 vs Ducati Streetfighter [1000/800] vs Triumph Thruxton vs .....[open to suggestion but keep with the naked streetfighter theme]

can the above mentioned bikes be made available in India and what damages am I lookin at.

    Thanks in advance

Hey Sandeep, You can import anything you want until you have Vitamin "M" plenty enough. But consider these facts too:
          1. How pratical is to own a bike with a few spares or nothing at all around you?
          2. Taxes? Would you like to own a grey like the rest of the clad & get sleepless nights?

As said above, would sincerely suggest you to get something which will get you through the easy spares way & not to put yourself in a trauma.

          Guess all are busy man...!

P.S. I don't know man, for some reason the P.M's to you are simply bouncing back about the offer that you sent me. Lack of Vitamin "M" as of now mate...!

Wont be able to offer too much on *how* can you get them in India or for how much but just my 2 cents.... 1000CC nakeds are something which you wouldnt want. Lack of fairing wouldnt let you enjoy whats its capable of as wind feels huge on Hwy and riding position isnt really designed for top rev speeds 1000cc on nakeds.
Now for the the bikes you mentioned "Kawasaki Z1000 vs Ducati Streetfighter [1000/800] vs Triumph Thruxton": IMO, they are bit different to each other. I was going to say ride test ride them but thats probably not an option. Z1000 and Duc SF would be probably my choice if i am looking that side or 2 wheeled riding but they might be comparatively more aggressive than Thruxton.
Have you checked Aprilia Dorosduro or Husk Nuda 900R or some of those Deus(I dont like them, just mentioning the name). Even Tuono is awesome but then I look at Norton you mentioned and it confuses me if you need new gen nakeds or vintage styled like Thruxton/Norton...

100 BHP atleast? Hmm...very few options; the closest would be Triumph Speed Triple. The other closest I would've suggested would be GT1000 which will match your requirements 100%, but, that's out of production now.

If you don't have issues with troublesome mechanics, then go ahead & import GT1000; otherwise, your best bet for now will be Speed Triple, the next closest, which I'm fully aware it doesn't have a classic look.

One factor we all need to sadly accept & move on is that, the classic looks with bikes are over, with the moving modern times, we also need to accept & keep moving.

@dualdisc spares can be imported if my wallet is ok with it like u mentioned. I kinda wanted somethin diff from the rest thats why these strange options.

@warpspeed i wont have too much of HW ridin so i am ok wit not doin 275+ always, also wanted a bike that can be rideable everyday also, so the litre class become a bit redundant . Thats why I am settling on the streetfighter style of bike'. The aprilia tuono looks brilliant but reliablity is a sore spot, same with the Husq[also it doesn have 100+bhp.]

@argee Do u know any1 wit the speed triple any reviews. Also my opinion 'There's no school like the old-school' else why wud Roland Sands attempt his latest wit the latest Duc'

Suprised nobody mentioned the name Fz1.
                  Neat babe,I'd say.
                  Its 100+ and smoking naked.
Comes clean with all the spares and services on demand. Hassle-free.
                  Check it out!

I have test ridden Tuono here...not a bad bike. Fueling might concern you though....Can not comment on reliability as I have never owned one but hoot of a bike....If you dont need high speed or power on Top end, why looking for HP but not for torque if everyday usage(I guess at low revs) is primary requirement...
Speed or even street triple is awesome...If you looking for something specific, i can ask few mates...
