I will say stick to ZMR its just 6000 kms Old Bike and CBR is not City tool for sure i get around 26-28 kmpl in City and then i feel 250cc is too much for kind of Riding you are doing.Originally posted by raven20 View PostIts not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

@Raven....most of your usage is within city and you are not after horsepower or speed, and when it rains, you prefer the car...Under the circumstances the ZMR is more than adequate for you.
If you feel like owning a new bike,and can wait, then please wait for the upcoming 350cc next year or may be earlier. It will be a good choice between the 250 and 600cc class of bikes....You will have power, performance,etc., and are supposed to be below 2 L..so VFM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

CBR over Karizma is'nt a valid update, cause the negatives over weigh the positives.
And believe me you wont be so happy when you realize that the bike for which you payed around 2Lakh needs a double downshift to overtake a speeding state transport.Motorcycling Experience:
2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)

Just mention the points u say as negatives and positives. Iv driven the CBR250 and arguably its the best Indian bike. Its a big-big leap on ZMR which is overpriced as well as quite dated now.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostCBR over Karizma is'nt a valid update, cause the negatives over weigh the positives.
- CBR 250 is a 26 PS machine compared to Karizma's 17.8 Ps. It has a hell lot of grunt in its engine. CBR is a class product.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostAnd believe me you wont be so happy when you realize that the bike for which you payed around 2Lakh needs a double downshift to overtake a speeding state transport.
- It tops out around 160 kmph compared to 127 on Karizma.
- And its acceleration is 0-100kmph is 9.6secs which is quite fast compared to any bike in the country and after 100kmph it has the fastest acceleration (barring the overpriced Ninja 250R)
- Also spare parts are never a problem like the Karizma.
- Also CBR250 have special treatment in the SCs.
- Its the best world class quarter-litre product along with Ninja 250R. These quality products cannot be compared anyway with dated simple products like Karizma
C-ABS is a big safety feature which no one can ignore.Last edited by Enthusiastic; 03-18-2012, 12:38 PM.Whats there in a signature?

Is your opinion baised on TD u took of CBR..? Bike produces 25bhp and 22nm torque , I never felt need to even downshift to overtake Speeding Bus .

Raven - Don't know if its worth or not, check out post #7500 at page 750 on CBR 250R ownership that explains very clearly as what you can expect out of it. May be it helps you draw a conclusion.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

) emotional with the bike. He couldnt accept its dated so whenever there is a comparo between ZMA & P220 he would say he has overtaken P220s like kids and comparo between ZMR/R15 or upgrade from ZMR to CBR250 he would say ZMR are the best on each and every thread. Recently a guy asked what to buy "only" among Fazer & R15 and he recommended ZMA ROFL

- CBR 250 is a 26PS machine compared to Karizma's 18Ps. It has a hell lot of grunt in its engine. CBR is a class product.
The CBR does have a few extra ponies than the ZMA on paper, and looking from the engine point of view, its a perfect package, but there are other things like gearing,weight to power etc to compare(Which am not aware of, cause am talking from first hand riding experience). Having personally ridden the bike, it just feels like it lacks alot of low end torque. And overtaking's a real problem, I'm not saying the ZMA overtakes better, I know the ZMA sucks as well, but I've never had to double downshift in it when overtaking. Other than the overtaking thingi, the CBR's similar to the ZMA in many ways, especially the same lazy feeling.
- It tops out around 160kmph compared to 127 on Karizma.

Top end and acceleration may matter on track and paper. But definitely not when riding on a day to day basis. Maybe just me but the CBR I TD'd on was a new one belonging to a friend and I was'nt at all impressed with the riding feel, cause it felt similar to my ZMA and the price tag was double. But there's one thing I'd have to say, the top end is worth it, cause my ZMA dies at 130Kmph speedo and that too after giving a fight for its life, but the CBR was calm @ 120~125Kmph.
- Also spare parts are never a problem like the Karizma.
From personal experience I'd say thats a rumour. Cause every spare part I get within a week of ordering it. And now the SVC in my locality has a separate complex for selling spares and so now theres no ordering, its just go and buy, since they stock everything.
- Also CBR250 have special treatment in the SCs.
Dont know about the other SVC's, but here all premium segment HH bikes are repaired only by senior mechs, and I know this cause I personally know the mech and he too rides a Black 2011 ZMA.
- Its the best world class quarter-litre product along with Ninja 250R. These quality products cannot be compared anyway with dated simple products like Karizma
Thats true. And I wasnt giving a full blown comparison, just saying that it overtakes like crap. The CBR is definitely a winner cause of its undefeated price tag in the quarter liter category.Motorcycling Experience:

CBR250R also don't give you any issue , its a Honda afterall , engines are good as the one you experiencing in ZMR . The issues intially it has are sorted out as per the recent reveiws of CBR owners .Originally posted by raven20 View PostGuys,
I have a ZMR and am thinking of selling it and buying CBR250 with ABS. With great difficulty i have managed to convince my better half on this. I have taken a TD of CBR250 and like the
* Smoothness of the engine & gear shift
* 25BHP power!
* Low end torque
* easy navigation in traffic
* Safety of ABS
* Wide rear tyres
* Honda Brand
My ZMR is about 1.5 years old and done about 6000+ Km in the ODO. I use it mainly for city commute and rarely take it on long drive. When it rains i prefer to use car so not much usage in the rainy season. In this 1.5 years of ZMR usage my bike has not given me a single issue till now!
Your help in helping me decide is greatly appreciated
Just check the informative FAQ posted by aargee .
Also check this post by one owner who shifted from ZMR to CBR http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...sion-woes.html though i think his issue is sorted out but he haven't cleared it yet . Also there are other owners who shifted from ZMR to CBR consult with them . One of them is ZMRMOD .
Hope this helped a little bit .

) emotional with the bike. He couldnt accept its dated
Another fact which maybe hard for you to digest, am one among the two people in the ZMA thread who without a second thought or any justification directly admits(And most of the time without being asked.) that the ZMA's a dated bike. If you go back and search the "What Bike?" thread you'll notice that in the past I've recommended many people against buying a ZMA.
so whenever there is a comparo between ZMA & P220 he would say he has overtaken P220s like kids and comparo between ZMR/R15 or upgrade from ZMR to CBR250 he would say ZMR are the best on each and every thread.
A brand new P220 will kick a ZMA's ass anyday, but the story's not the same comparing the same bikes after a couple of K's have been put on em. Its a general fact, and it can be proven wrong only if the P220 at hand has been taken care of by an exceptionally good owner.
Lol, and if you check my previous posts in the ZMA thread itself, you can find that my ZMA has been put to dust by a Stunner and a P150/180. Guess riders experience also matters.
Recently a guy asked what to buy "only" among Fazer & R15 and he recommended ZMA ROFL

I suggested the ZMA, cause in a recent post on the same thread, someone claimed the Fazer to be comfortable to ride, which its NOT!!!, the back pain after long rides are still there on a Fazer. So the next best option in the same price range is the ZMA.
This's the post am reffering to.

But if he was referring to the FZ being more comfortable in COMPARISON to the R15 then thats a different story wholetogether and I'm at fault.Motorcycling Experience:

@TS - Yes, it's a worthy upgrade IMO.
Rest assured, all those niggles have been sorted out. Plus, I haven't read/heard any complaints for the C-ABS version.
You get 150% the power on a ZMR, superb (VFRish) styling and more importantly a world class respected quarter litre machine.
But, do you really 'need' it?
Pls go through this link and decide:-
My 2 cents.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Thanks for all the Valuable input guys
Guys,
Thanks for all the Valuable input. I was more worried on the quality niggles of the CBR but hearing that it is not there anymore makes my choice easier.
I do go on touring sometimes. I have done two 1500+ Km touring till now but both were in a Bullet (Friends).
Planning to go to Spiti Valley in June this year... If i buy the bike now then it will not do the run in by then so planning to take ZMR for this tour and then come back and change the bike.Ravikiran

Going by your usage pattern, you need to ask yourself the question, do you really need it? As far as I can see, the ZMR just does it for you now and works out well. So,if I were you,I'd stick to it...If you're thinking of changing irrespective of what others have to say,please go ahead and buy a CBR, it's worth it. Quality issues are supposedly rectified and you shouldn't really be worrying about it.
P.S: News of quality issues spread like wild fire. If you remember, the same thing happened with the GS 150R (tank rust issue) and even after it was sorted out, people kept bringing up that topic whenever they had to suggest.It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Ahh dont flatter us lot, you want us to share your guilt.
Is the CBR250 a better upgrade? Bike to bike, ofcourse, individual to individual Perhaps.
Since you don't ride much it wouldn't matter.
Heart seeks it!
I would say, if you can get tired of a bike in 6k, do not ride daily, you probably ride to feel the rush, you probably should upgrade to the 650 class or atleast the Ninja 250.
If you decide to upgrade right now, kindly ping me before you sell your ZMR.
Glad to have added to the confusion!

and the question remains why do i race?
