  • CBR 250r with or without abs

    Hi fellow bikerz,
This is my first post in xbhp.
I am confused on whether to choose the ABS model in CBR250r.

I am currently using a pulsar 180 dts-i (K&N fitted). It is an awesome machine, I don know its bhp after fitting the K&N but it can rattle up three figures in no time and I have hit a top speed of 125kph on it. I am owning it for 2 1/2 years and i thought it is time to move on to another bike with higher power and shortlisted the CBR. In the previous past, three times I fell and all the times a skid has been the cause. So on the pro side ABS gives me a safer ride but in a few years say (3-4) I think I will be moving on to a bigger machine a 650 cc or may be something above. i want to be prepared for the higher speeds those machines will churn. Will ABS leave me underprepared, if those bikes don come with an ABS option? (pls excuse if its a stupid qn I am relatively new to ABS. I test rode an ABS version and I felt it was a totally new and safe experience)

    Help me out.

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

Whether you CBR 250R or not is a different story, but what you can expect from a CBR is detailed here - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/787176-post.html

I went through both the articles, I can understand the ABS is the better model but my doubt is if i drive an ABS version will I be underprepared when I upgrade to higher CC bikes without ABS?

Its nothing like that. Any new bike, one should get used the braking ability before using it to full potential. Go ahead with ABS version.

it is no brainer ,if you have moolah go for the abs, honda is endorsing the abs models more these days than the std version.
just onething keep in mind on an abs bike apply brake just you would do in a non-abs bike, don't need to slam always hard, the abs will kick in whenever needed,so your braking skill remain unexploited.

every dealer gives an extended warranty ,just ask them.it is must.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

^^^ ZMatic's timely reminder for me to share a close encounter that we'd last weekend; as we were gradually descending a ramp we didn't expect a loose gravel to be put up on a nicely paved bridge that connects NH5; as if these weren't enough, the last 2 lanes were closed with barricades adding to the menace. It was only by God's grace all 3 of us (though the other 2 had ABS) were fortunate to manage it.

If you're skeptical about your future rides not having ABS, then opt only to upgade with Honda motorcycles where ABS is standard

Point - If you can afford for ABS, simply go for it

Gravel, yeah ! Nothing scares me more than gravel on corners

Also in case of emergency, the first 150K you spent wont save you but the additional 30K will save you big time. its a life saving feature to me !

And agreeably, Honda are putting ABS even on 1000cc too ! so its a premium feature, if you get it on a quarter liter, its a steal deal

Please go for C-ABS model. In 2-3 years ABS might become common in all higher end bikes. Or you can always have an option to choose bigger Honda with C-ABS when you are upgrading your ride.

If the above mentioned point is the only concern, I would anytime suggest C-ABS.

^^ True, EU is going to mandate ABS on all 125cc+ bikes as standard by 2015. So, on all international models available here, you should atleast have ABS as an option in India.
