  • Please help me decide my first two wheeler

    Hello xBhpians,
I am Yogesh Naik-a young mariner and to be biker. Most of my time is spent out on waters and very recently I am here for a year to clear my exams for promotion.
Circa 2011- I was home for about 2 months. From that time only i decided to fix my choice on what bike i should buy.In came the news of cbr 250r launch in Thailand.I was pretty interested. There were no reviews that time.Only walkarounds.Still i was impressed by what honda was offering at 1.60 onroad.Very impressed. Then all sorts of threads started flooding in on the internet about the bike, its launch and all.Sadly i had to go on ship.
But i followed all the threads religiously.I read all the stuff, initial qc problems and all of it and finally decided that yes this is it.this is the bike i am gonna take. That time i had not even told my finance minister(mom) about my decision. But i started making all sorts of khayali pulav on ship abt the bike. When i came home, I straightaway went to the honda dealership and boy i was mightily unimpressed. The way it looks in the pics and in reality is completely different. And i was really unhappy about the performance.(no offense meant to current owners, Just my take on the bike)I mean C'mon its a 250 but doesnt feel like one.Truthfully speaking i was feeling like i am driving a unicorn with an extra gear.It was a very big disappointment.
Once again i went on ship and this time the bike i was following was duke.Same old saga till the td.I followed each and every thread regarding the duke.I came home and the duke was about to be launched. But Mr Rajiv bajaj had some other plans and decided to delay the launch thrice(launch twice and actual delivery once).Holding on to my disappointment once again i Td'ed ceeber.Honda had improved the plastics but the bike failed to "EXCITE" me.At last dukes were being given for td and i got a call from vashi ktm.I was in for a huge surprise. The moment i saw the bike i was like and when i rode it i was .Finally i had found The bike i was going to buy.I persuaded my mom the need of a bike and went on to show her the bike. The moment she saw it there was a big noooo. All these years i also had Thunderbird on the back of my mind.I showed her the bull and she happily said yes.Finance agreed for 130000 sharp.
Now i Have booked the bull and waiting for it since 2 months and still the same response from the dealer "saar waiting period is 4-6 months"
I cant wait for that long. Please suggest me-Whether i should go for the duke or wait for the bull?

your perception about ceeber is wrong.
duke is definitely the key to hooliganism.
as ceeber didn't impress you i won't suggest the new 150 either.
i prefer duke, now it's upto if you are gonna get a bike according to your mom's choice or yours choice.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Considering the amount of time you spend at Sea, the bike you should ideally own should give you "most fun/hour" of ride time discounting EVERYTHING else. The bulls, especially the 350s are, frankly, a bit borrrring. (<--IMO, people may agree to disagree). The only bike you should even think of is the Duke. Or else, after you get the TBTS, you shouldn't feel like "Mazaa nahi aaya".

You obviously like the Duke a lot. What is the point in compromising? It is not like RE is giving away those bulls for free .

But do you realize that the Duke has got waiting periods as well?
Of the three bikes you spoke of, only the CBR250R is available off the shelf.

And it is not a very uncommon acronym on threads discussing Royal Enfields.

But outside those threads most of the people would be wondering is this an internet slang?

                          ^^chill guys.
So according to all of u I should go for the duke.ok.I rode the karizma r yesterday.I found it quite amazing as a package provided for that value.so basically ive found out that im in search of something thats under 1.3 lakhs, should be good to put a smile on my face everytime i ride and should be a good short distance tourer(mumbai pune, alibag, nashik etc)
So now its Duke, Thunderbird and Karizma R(I didn't like the Zmr) in order of preference.
My riding will be basically 4-5 kms daily in city, 50 kms once or twice a week on good highway, 40 kms a week on highway+ very bad village roads and 400-500 kms trips once in one or two months.
