  • Dad's Pulsar Fantasy P150 / P180?

Guys I need your help in making an important decision for my dad.
    Let me explain.
Someone in my dad's office bought a Pulsar 150 and my dad is in love with it.
So , He came up to me and said "Hey Pulsar is a great bike"
and I replied "Yeah dad , that's why I made you book the new 200NS"
Dad : "Well , I don't like the looks of the 200.I'm going to buy myself a Pulsar 150"
Me : "What! You can use the 200 when it gets here"
Dad : "No , You're always roaming around ..I doubt I will be able to even see it"

I went on and told him how the P180 just costs about 3-5k more than the 150.He was interested and told me that he needed the most reliable one .
So that is kind of my question :

Is the Pulsar 180 reliable as the 150? I heard there was engine problems?
Mileage should be roughly above 40 Kmpl.
He is 170cms tall and weighs 70Kgs.Managing bikes is not a problem for him at all. So that doesn't matter.

    Please reply.

    Topic Approved.

Nobody can exactly and correctly compare reliability between two bikes, as it depends on the owners themselves, to an extent.

For a statement, mostly you can get either P150 or P180 and NOT run into problems ever, if you service and maintain them properly.

P180 does give a realistic city level mileage of 40 kmpl, even on a bit hard riding.

PS: I also have a P180 but its UG3, not UG4 that you will get in market today.
It gave me 35-56 kmpl in different conditions, but usually city norm is 40 kmpl. And about its reliability, I maintained her well and this is her 6th year... Did even 570 kms/ day trip, and it held on in the loneliest of places!

Thanks for fast approval and reply Well he maintains his bike well,And will look after it with care. That I'm sure of. But I don't want my dad to regret buying something under my advice. That is why I asked. Hey does your 180 still offer the power it had back when you bought it? And does it still give 40 kmpl?

180 over the 150 anyday. The 150 also offers the pulsar oomph! factor, but the issue is that it runs out of spunk around 90Kmph and the rest is just roll on.

So the 180 would be your best bet, cause now-a-days only 180 can be justified as a normal bike, cause anything below is commuterish and anything above is performance, so with the 180 you'd have the perfect balance, in short the best of both worlds.

And hats off to your dad.

Anyday P180 or, just hear me out, P220 without fairing! If your dad is way too concerned about mileage, then P180 atleast. He will look a hunk riding it Just gift him a good helmet & a regular Pro-Biker gloves

P180 man, no doubts in this department if you are ready to compromise a bit on mileage
                CBR250R |
                Bajaj Pulsar 180 - dts i |
                Bajaj CT 100

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

Mileage should be 40+ on city and 45+ on long trips (highway) ..So I guess P180 it is? What's the onroad cost of both over there?

with due respect to your dads decision, i just want him to to make a decision based on test rides of some other bikes.
He just rode a new p150.. I am of tne opinion that he should go for test rides of some other machines.. Like rtr 160, fzs, unicorn and then decide.. As his main concern is reliability.. Pulsars are reliable.. But unicorn et al are more reliable.
If he still wants a pulsar - 180 is what one should go for.

I showed him the uni and his comment was - Looks too old. Gs150 - I don't need 6 gears.moreover that thing weighs more than a pulsar. Apache - Tvs bikes are junk . They won't last...i think he's pretty much fixed to the pulsar. He rode an Fz and he said it lacked initial and top..

^ fz lacks at initial ? . Bro , please test ride again. Actually p150 lacks at low end but behaves very well at mid range over p180 ( just my thought ) . I think your dad might be impressed by this . p180 has better low end . Ask him to test ride both

I haven't rode fz yet..but I'm sure not to reccomend it to him again after reading through the ownership thread and a bad ownership experience of my friend. Does Fz offer enough perfomance for the fuel it consumes? I think he is going for the 180 now..Will test ride both tommorw.
