  • Need a Bike, Please help

I was using Fiero F2 till this day but have sold it for upgrade and while writing this I'm crying, because I loved my baby very much.

Please help me to choose a good bike as I give out my choice of reasons for each bike.

TVS Apache RTR 160 OTR ~73k

I like TVS brand very much because they run very well without giving many problems and also their parts are cheap. As all my bikes from Max R to Fiero were from this company, I had not much problems with them. But a big no to Apache because, these TVS guys shutdown a product very soon. Apache 150 came and disappeared very soon and also I think they will shut down 160 because they are concentrating on 180 more nowadays. So can't guarantee these people, with 5 years their vehicles get disappeared. So this is the only reason to say NO for Apache.

    Honda Unicorn 150 OTR ~76k

Good bike but waiting period simply disgusting and much hyped vehicle, certainly brand name Honda has value but also too much of ask for a simple vehicle. I rode this vehicle several times and the more it gets old it gets worst. Big not to Unicorn

Hero Honda CBZ Extreme or Hunk whatever OTR ~77k

Another Honda product with different name, sells for its name but now it's just Hero and there is not much to take from it.

    Yamaha FZ -16 OTR ~77k

I'm fan of Brand Yamaha from my childhood, not only bikes whatever they make right from musical keyboard to Racing bikes, they are the Kings.

I was big fan of RX100 and I wanted to own it but it didn't happen because when I started earning, petrol prices started soaring and the vehicle disappeared. When FZ was launched, I fell in love with her at first sight and it was my dream to buy this girl and I hope God will bless me with this one very soon

So I'm asking you guys, should I go for Yamaha FZ-16, and if I ride with steady speed of 45-55 km/hr, will I get the mileage of atleast 42 km/l. Please help guys, Am I doing right thing by going for Yamaha

    Thanks

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

you can surely go ahead with fz
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
      #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

i never met anyone who is getting more than 35 in an Fz, but all Fz owners i knew ride their bike in country roads and cities, but if you are a die-hard Yamaha fan, Just go for Fz but don't keep much expectation from mileage department, if you are lucky you might get better mileage, Once a Yamaha salesman told my friend that if ridden under 50kph in the break in period Fz will deliver better mileage.

@muztariq: Yes that is true, very few Fzs at my place, and those who own them are hardly 'Economy conscious' Riders. But one thing is FE of Fz at driving sane is almost=FE of other bikes of the same segment at moderate Ripping.

you have met very less ppl then. Fz gives a mileage of 42 if ridden below 50.

Go ahead and buy it buddy..

Mileage also depends on how frequently u hold clutch and brake. Fuel quality, and your weight too.

So a person weighing 80kg+ pillion about the same travelling mostly part city and highway at 70kmph+ with lots of sudden braking always gets less than 35kmpl.

If you maintain proper tyre pressure, fill good quality fuel and mostly keep tank full and are solo rider with speed ranging from 40-60kmph and don't ride rash or use sudden braking. I can vouch u shall get between 40-50kmpl.

There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

              I have a 2011 fz-s i get b/w 42-48kpl when riding alone. 37-41 if riding with pillion in city

Ps: i rarely cross 55kph. Most of the times i keep rpm below 3k

There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

CBR1000RR returns 28kmpl if ridden at a constant speed of 75 in 6th gear. This doesn't mean that CBR1000RR will return the same mileage when it is ridden the way it is supposed to.

By your post it seems like you are mileage consiouse but mind it my friend mileage is never that good with best products on good i.e stability/power/speed.

As far as FZ is concern a Gem piece from YAMAHA!! Go ahead with it no issues. My friend has a FZ he rides in daily traffic of mumbai and he gets 45kmlpl. And on highways with us many trips he gets approx 50kmpl.

But FZ is fun to ride pure city bike with excellent manhandling. Parts are also at normal price compare to others. Excellent looks too.
Enjoy Yamaha. But if you are concern on mileage then opt for other products, mostly i haven't seen any FZ rider with out ZigZac ing !!!

hi i am planning to buy a motorcycle for my daily commute to college which is around 18 km from my home. I have shortlisted cbr 150r, duke 200. Which one will suit me more i have test driven the both bikes and height is not a problem. I like both the motorcycles very much. And btw how can i convince my dad about duke's design since he used to own an yezdi and thinks that i might get into trouble with the cops if i get a motorcycle designed like that. To me the duke appeals more than the baby cbr, but what can i do? I know the post is long but please forgive me, i really need your help.

From your post it's very simple that you have already finalised the bikes i.e CBR150 or Duke...

Comparision very simple You like Duke over CBR so no problem Dude!! Conveince your dad for it. You know your dad very well, so you know the save path too.

As far as statistic is here...Duke is anytime blindly better than CBR150 on all aspects:-
                            1. Power of 200cc at approx same price!!
                            2. Speed
                            3. Handling/looks/Stability.
                            4. Servicing and spare part are same cost or would be less as it's by Bajaj.
                            5. City and Highway Bike i.e Street Bike.
When you can buy more power, big engine,Stabilty, etc @ similar cost then why not a big engine..

Don't make a decision just your dad wants CBR! Else later you will regret if any Duke pass by on highways or City

Well can you suggest some ways to convince the design aspects like the kicked up tail etc. The main thing is that he thinks i might get into trouble with the cops if i'm riding a motorcycle which looks, from his view, very odd. Please help
