Also the new bike preferably not be a street sport i.e. Pulsar, R15, Karizma n Apache! coz we've one at home. Then after narrowing the choice, we are left with Avenger n ThunderBird!! What should be the new 1??

@ Spunk : Both the bikes that you have short listed are good in thier own ways. It gives me a feeling that now after having fun with high speeds(P220) now you want to ride & relax. below are my views for both the bikes :
Avenger : A bajaj product, good looking, P220's engine( detuned to 19 PS), priced well, cheap spares.
Thunderbird : RE is an attention seeker whichever model it is. Much more powerful than Avenger. Don't know the actual sts as I have none of the above bikes.
But then as mentioned by the above gentlemen, Duke is a good option if you are a city rider, CBR would suit you if you like to tour. But then the decision is yours. If you are stuck on cruisers, TR both Avengers and RE and decide.Last edited by Sid85; 06-12-2012, 02:49 AM.Siddhartha

Since you arent too interested in sporty models, and sticking to your choices, RE makes more sense since you'll get to own a completely different type of motorcycle..Consider the classic too, if you can do with REs waiting list ieIt all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

if not a street bike why not a sports-tourer like cbr,i don't think you will like avenger or thunderbird after riding 220.and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.
#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
#overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road
(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Your choice is TBTS or an Awenger ?? Actually we can have a big debate here over these two bikes !!! lol.. So lets talk on normalization.Originally posted by Spunk1o1 View PostHey guys, this is my first post and I would like to know if I should go for a new bike, handing my P220 to my younger sibling?? or stay with it and let him choose his?? If you are a happy P220 owner with engine and it's quality of Bajaj and good experience with Bajaj service and parts then Go with Awenger.

Because Awenger is a nice cruiser than a TBTS. But with little power less then TBTS. Looks of Awenger is much awesome Crusier type. And it has a powerful engine of 220cc oil cooled Which gives 130kmph easily. Recently One guy on awenger 220 cc raced with me(R15) on eastern exp highway. And it was pretty tuff race, we both were at 132kmph i hope even was too, as he stick to me in full 10kms race. I won just becuase of R15 frame and it's handling i was able to zig zag while overtaking. But awenger had given me smoke while pickup and straight lines.
So result is AWENGER is a good Product and Bike Super to tour i have toured till Mahabaleshwar from mumbai. And it was comfortable.
Thunderbird: Mega torque compare to normal indian bikes. Big bike with heavy weight. RE tagship. Can be used in city and highways with out any issues. But mind it it's not a speed machine it is made for ride pleasure!! Different design. Cruiser/commuter bike. Can be driven whole day with out any engine issues. Stable on road. Even heard few bikers riding TBTS at 120kmph. But it is strictly not advised. Can be kept as a "Virasat". Peace of mind.
Awenger cost approx 40k less than TBTS. NO waiting period. Why to pay more when your req can be satisfied with 90k bike

. If you love TBTS then it's a different thing, then surely go with 1.3L machine.

Both the bikes gives similar average
Bajaj !!!!if you don't have any issues with 220cc else TBTS for new change and ride.

Issues are there on both the bikes but choice is choice!!!!

Change of Choices!!
Olright its been a while thought over nd over, now the scene has changed! Choice is now between CBR 250 & Classic 500 // as I'll stick with the bike for not less than 3years.
As of my riding style, I used to rush in traffic with zoom zoom of my p220, and cruise as well. Im fond of riding fast, but the gear I prefer is leather jackets big boots // much like harley wear. So I cant narrow down to any single among sporty as well as cruiser type.
Hmm...
Though I lean more toward C500 its prolong waiting duration is a problem. Has any1 bought c500 recently somewhere around chandigarh? Can you tell me how much u had to wait for it, coz I dont trust the dealers as they always slug your delivery.
Thanks replyin guys

My budget has rose to 170k as its a one time purchase so +2 choices ( c500 // CBR250 )Originally posted by somen1984 View PostYour choice is TBTS or an Awenger ?? Actually we can have a big debate here over these two bikes !!! lol.. So lets talk on normalization.

OMG C5 and CBR againOriginally posted by Spunk1o1 View PostMy budget has rose to 170k as its a one time purchase so +2 choices ( c500 // CBR250 )
and KUDOS @ your relpy

kidding.
If you want a worthy product for 1.7L then any time CBR250.
Because as you are a P220 owner then it's most certain that you want braking and handling very similar to P220 or more than that!! so CBR here!
You have ridden P220 than you must be with a habbit of riding at 100kmph more or less and some time some good burst of 120kmph too, SO CBR come here too, with capable of handling speed.
Now features....
1. Liquid cool engine.
2. Dual Disc Brakes
3. Sport tourer combination.
4. Honda's relaible engine(even though few here or there issues, mostly with ASC)
5. Broader tyres!! , etc....
With riding position you won't feel any difference comapre to P220 and CBR. But yes with RE you can see the comfort.
C5 is all about passion. People pay 1.7 for that FI air cooled engine where braking and handling is always a risk at such high speed. But if you want something very different from a group of people than C5. C5 is vey capable of touring with pillion than CBR. If C5 ridden at 90-100kmph then it's awesome. It has good juice while running from 90-110kmph quickly. UCE engine is also a good average deliver. C5 is something that what your hearts says to except it with minus-ing the rest.CBR is what mind says to be practical with all plus! But we expect C5 with 500cc mill to be more stable and friendly with little more features and good braking and top speed.C5 is comfortable for city as well as long tours with speed limits and feature limits. Please understand C5 and CBR can't be compare, its all over us what we want?? features or passion?

in my opinion ,since you already have a sports type bike at home, you should probably go for RE models like tbts,c500 or electra.....all RE bikes are great ...and besides they have a cult following and status like no other bike...when you ride an RE you get a feeling beyond words...
PROS:
great looks.
good bottom end torque.
decent fuel economy(considering size).
cult status.
CONS
1.oil leakage issues.
2.higher maintainance.
if you are okay with the issues of RE,then go for it....and by the way test drive all the bikes and then decide...ultimately,the choice is yours..

C5 facts
I would suggest you go for the CBR, it will suit you. Also you need to test drive the avenger once before eliminating it just because you can afford much more than that.
C5 is a blast in low torque, it pulls you and sometimes leaves you and rushes forward (sic)
. It is purely for enjoying this pull, I loved it when I test drove it, no other bike can give it (not even the C350). But, as all RE bikes C5 too comes with its own set of niggles. For owning any RE 'problem free - 0 manufacturing defects' bike you need a great deal of LUCK or you should have been a great sadhu or philanthropist in your previous incarnation
.
So only if you have great deal of time and interest to live with a C5 you need to go for it. Otherhand CBR is a cool bike to tour, flick in traffic, corner in lavasa or take it to office and burn few stomachs
.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).
