  • Yamaha R15 as First bike! Need Help

Hello, Yes I'm new here and i need HELP!
I'm about to buy my first bike and I'm in love with the new Yamaha r15 v2.0. From the day i saw that bike on the streets i wanted one! But I'm an amateur and have a lot of doubts and questions about the r15.I don't care about the money! My usage will be like 60% on highway and 40 on the streets of Cochin . First of all i have really less experience riding a bike got my license 3-4 months back, i can drive very well though..but never owned a bike. i got a chance to ride both Yamaha fz16 and the new r15 but just for a couple of minutes! So my riding experience nil. Right now i have a rust old kinetic Honda which my mom used .. i just use it to roam around the town. SO here's the deal about r15 i heard there's a lot of maintenance invoked in that bike is it true? It not a big deal coz paying like 1.2 lacks for that bike and paying a bit for maintenance doesn't matter but i just wanna know. any r15 owners please shed some light on this topic. and the next thing about the center stand i know its awkward having a center stand in an r15 but for chain lubing and maintenance i can use a paddock stand right? do we get it from the Yamaha showroom? or should we buy it separately? and guys from Cochin how's the PSN Yamaha showroom and which is the best ASV's in Cochin? I'm sorry I've a lot of questions and i just don't know how to keep it short .. Just help me with this!

    Topic Approved.

Initially you might find it rock-stable which in turn may seem less-steering or so, compared to Kinetic Honda. But believe me, the same stability helps when you go through a corner following a particular line.

Maintenance might be on the "slightly" expensive side compared to other companies, but its not that much. Service Quality is consistently good from city to city.

Yes, you can use a paddock stand and in fact, Yamaha service centres have them so they'll do the chain maintenance themselves during service, etc.

Purchase it and you'll love it! Go Ahead! Since you opened a thread in the "What Bike" Section, a close alternative is KTM Duke 200 which brings more power, without the top speed assisting fairing though.

Lol ... Are you Sure My friend ??? Then why a question of a maintenance!! If you like a bike then maintain it too!! (joking )

My usage will be like 60% on highway and 40 on the streets of Cochin .
Execellent bike for Highways!! Real power is seen on highway only and awesome handling!!

SO here's the deal about r15 i heard there's a lot of maintenance invoked in that bike is it true?
R15 IS PURE HASSLE FREE BIKE IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE OR SERVICE!! A GEM BIKE TILL DATE IN ANY LAUNCH!!

It not a big deal coz paying like 1.2 lacks for that bike and paying a bit for maintenance doesn't matter but i just wanna know. any r15 owners please shed some light on this topic.
Normal periodic service are at expensive side than most bikes!!

But if you want good quality then you have to pay it!!

Braking is superb, handling is superb, parts are superb so price is too superb, now it has been reduced alot earlier it was like maintaining a big bike!!
and the next thing about the center stand i know its awkward having a center stand in an r15 but for chain lubing and maintenance i can use a paddock stand right? do we get it from the Yamaha showroom? or should we buy it separately?
Seperately, you don't get any thing with bike!!

This is very simple that you have one focused bike in mind. So no problem with it.

I wish R15 should have been launched in 200+cc then it would have been the best bike in that segment!!

Maintenance - is more or less the same if not lesser than the bike in its league.... The only thing you would need to work is with Engine Oil, Oil filter in the first service and that it! The rest of the bike is pretty bullet proof~!

You can install the gladiator\RX100 mainstand on the bike, or you can keep it handy ONLY for lubing the chain too!

if money is no problem and you are highway mile muncher why not cbr 250 r.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

Just a word of advice. Since you are a new biker, take your time to adapt to the r15. It's almost forgiving but be aware that in case of an accident (god forbid) if it takes hit on the fairings and other things, it will burn a hole in your pocket.

R15 is a real looker If your heart says Yamaha, then Yes! Yamaha

I own a R15 v2.0 and also a newbie to biking... I would say wise choice and also a carefully taken decision to stick with yamaha regarding quality and maintenance. As said the bike is def a looker and rock solid through corners.. it is purely a gem... A perfect bike to learn and develop your riding skills
