  • Pulsar 135LS or Discover 125ST

this isnt exactly a bike buying query but a comparision and wanted to know member opinions

since the new d125ST comes at 60K what would be a better option...get this as it has monoshocks and very good handling or pay 5K more and get the p135(have seen many p135 having rust on rear shocks + a very hard seat)

both are entry level bikes so wud the performance matter too much to the rider who is graduating from a 100cc or may be a first time rider who is looking for a fun bike

wud one regret not going for p135 if he bought a d125st

or wud one regret not going for d125st if he bought a p135

personally love the speedlines on p135...but doesnt have the monoshock and petal discs

anyone who has ridden both of these what difference have u noticed?

Rest everything is alright, but I couldn't comprehend the meaning of this line.

Do you mean to say people upgrading from 100cc don't care about performance?

Or People upgrading from 100cc wouldn't understand which one has better performance?

Because I can personally vouch, about 3 years back I was upgrading from Caliber 115 and each and every bit of performance mattered to me. I didn't *settle* for Karizma or RTR180, went all the way and picked the 'Fastest Indian' instead.

As for your query about Pulsar 135LS and Discover 125ST,

A Discover has always been and will always be a Commuter.

A Pulsar has always been a fun bike, and the new gen Pulsars have been bikes you can take corner craving, the power delivery, frame, tires, handlebar-footpeg geometry, riding position all aid enthusiastic riding.

So the answer is simple, if you just want a fastish highway commuter with excellent FE, pick the Discover. If you want a bike you want to have fun with, the Pulsar is a better pick. This is not saying that Discover cannot be fun or Pulsar cannot be used as a commute, but that each is better optimized for the tasks its branding signifies.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

        i mean the second line

People upgrading from 100cc wouldn't understand which one has better performance? so at the first glance or may be during the test ride wont understand the true potential of a bike

as far as you want comparison go through the thread of P135 and D125ST

Very simple, P135 is quick then ST and it is much to ride, and gives good average too.

ST new bee WoW new features, but what difference would it make for a 125cc bike with petal Disc??? Petal Disc more efficient than normal Disc brakes, and good looks too, Ninja250r/200NS has it.

St would give you more average then P135, But are you looking for average ? A question to you?

If you are new/first time rider then both bikes are good as both are in range of 13.0 or 13.5bhp.

But if you are riding a 100cc bike then it won't make a much difference, Then you should go for 150cc.

Like SZ-R, or GS150r which near to 65-75k price, if want to have fun on road and really want to graduate from 100cc arena then FZ is superb!! and more high thoughts then a racer biker...but then price too shoots up my friend!!

Very Tough choice :O same thing appear on my mind .. when i was going too buy my new bike. test drive Discover St .. and drive my friend's Pulsar 135LS
Discover St i don't like where chotu Pulsar win my heart ... may be its because of my young age ... which go for Looks , Speed , Sporty Seating , and Ofcourse Pulsar Handle Bars.hehe

Discover ST comes with Stickers and Dual tone colours , and 135 ummmm I love Single Blue and Black .. i wish it comes in White

Discover ST comes with monoshock ... Near my home its hard to find Gadda wala rode's so both Pulsar and 125 ST same too me. but sure shot .. monoshock is a ++ Advantage

Discover ST and Pulsar 135LS both comfortable for short height peoples

Discover ST provide comfortable seating posture Pulsar Gives Sporty Seating posture

Mileage my friend's one roaming near 50 (its always depend on driving)

Discover ST comes with analog console where pulsar is all DIGITAL

Discover ST's Gear Shifting butter smooth not like usual old Discovers , Pulsar i can say little harder side

And now the best part , My friend's Pulsar135 allready catch RUST , all full with complaints and after analysis everything i go for Splendor LoL

Comparison between D125 ST and P135 LS is comparison between two segments.

Where D125ST sits on commuter segment and P135 sits on sports segment(because of its power, style, handling, sitting posture).

I personally didnt like P135 as it got a tank which feels very narror, seats are damn hard wouldn't go on any trip on that, no monoshock as going over a pot hole jerks my whole body.

Having digital console, Pulsar brand image, 4 valves are some of the pros but rusting, battery drying, breakdown are really kicking it off.

NOTE - this are my personal experience!

Whereas D125ST. I own one . is a very good bike but somewhere lags in the top speed and confidence due to poor tyres.

?It has a good pickup not just like any commuter bike but makes some power bikes fall behind in drag(short drags(I did it with stunner, SZ-R 150, P135)).
              ?
With those 4 valve it breaths more. with a retuned engine it makes enough power to make you happy. Style wise many people call it as the "Mini Pulsar".

sitting position is quite good and pillion seat is also well positioned with comfort giving cushioning not like hard pulsar seats.

Tyres is the thing that makes D125ST lose a point.

A guy upgrading from a 100CC bike to 125-135cc segment wont feel under-power with D125ST.

Biker makes fun not the bike!

if anyone want to upgrade then why to choose D125ST or P135 instead head towards 150cc bikes like FZS,CBZ,Hunk,Apache n rest.

But for the one who is getting his first bike must get a D125ST and hence move to 150cc and above instead of choosing P135.
Its not the Bike that makes a Biker perfect, its a Biker who makes his Bike perfect :)

Why don't you removed the rear tire huger(one side attached) ?

It might sound strange...but....i love the rear tyre hugger..some people feel it looks ugly but well...i like it :P
I liked it in p135 and also in p200ns....i dunno why people feel its ugly

plus the mud splash and stuff...i'd rather stick to it...

but its not in the centre...a bit towards the left...dunno how to fix it...

Congrats, now that's a serious, noticeable upgrade. And it looks like P135's bigger brother, their head lamp looks similar.
