  • Help me in choosing a used R15 V1

I am looking for a used R15, recently I found two used R15s, both of them 2008 models.

Seller 1 is expecting 65k. The odo is having sub 12K. I have not ridden a version 1 yet, but I have test driven my friends version 2 last year December. I am yet to TD his bike. I would surely TD it coming Sunday.

Seller 2 is expecting me to TD his bike first. He is not talking about the numbers in his mind. He is also not talking about the odo reading. So something was missing, I have ruled out seller 2.

Since I dont have any experience with R15 V1, I would trust xbhp owners with solution to my little knowledge with v1.

    - What are the details that can tell me about any abuse done to the bike?

I need lot of guidance from R15 V1 owners.

    Thanks in advance.

    Query Approved

I would say, TR both bikes. Don't go by the odo reading too much. The 2008 bike is almost 4 years old now and the running, at just 12k is waay too low (3k per year ). Even if you get the bike #2 at 20-25k on the odo, it could mean that the bike was used more regularly and maintained regularly, which, in my books, is better than a bike which was practically idle for so many years.

The rest, I would leave to R15 V1 owners, Hope they can guide better.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Frankly speaking the engine performance will not make sense to you if we keep hinting you on various areas either!!

The figure/price is not imp here!! the bike in whole is important! So feel it and make a decision then please ride your friends bike for at 2-3 days frequently and then TD this bikes.

      Things you should check:
      1. Firing.
      2. Coolant
      3. engine oil
      4. alloys aligment
      5. Steering Kone set alignment
      6. Bikes alignment as a whole.
      7. how is it performing after 7k rpm ?? that means a difference in speed figures and pick up from lower rpms i.e 5-6k rpm.
      8. Signal lights
      9. tail lights synch with front rear brakes.
      10. Brake pads front and rear.
      11. Tyre grips.

You will get a lot of second hand bikes in market but first get the feel of bike by your frnds R15 and later start the hunt! Else take the bike to SVC and asked cons in bike as an owner to repair it, he will list it.

@somen1984 - Thanks for the 11 points. I will keep those things in mind when i ride the bike.
At this point I would rather TR as many bikes as possible as you said and notice the differences among them.

@antz.bin - Thanks for approving my query. You have offered a new perspective. I thought in the other way. Thanks again.

Any other sugestions from v1 owners are most welcome, as your words are golden.

        Thanks in advance
