  • Commuter bike below 60K

    Hi XBhpians,

I am from Chennai. I am posting this query on behalf of my friend who is very much confused about which bike to go for.
This is going to be his first bike.He had test driven Passion Plus, Twister and Dream Yuga so far. He likes Dream Yuga out of the three which comes at 56K OTR excluding accessories.

    Requirements:

Good fuel efficiency (Above 60 KMPL)
    Low maintenance cost
    Decent looks
Height should be suitable for a 5.4" guy
Mostly will be ridden in city only (with max 10% of highway ride)
Self start and Disk brake would be of great help.
Daily travel would be around 40Kms.

I have suggested him Disco ST125. But couldn't vouch on the mileage part.

Kindly pour in your suggestions about any bike that fulfills the above mentioned requirements.

    Thanks,
    Padhu.

This is a good place to start your research

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Low maintenance cost Hero or Bajaj (affordable spare parts)
          Decent looks Shine/Yuga/Hayate/Discover,etc
Height should be suitable for a 5.4" guy no problem any 100cc or 125 is enough

Any 100cc would be great on mileage and satisfies your needs!! low maintenance is with Hero and Bajaj as it' cheap and affordable to maintain!!

I would personally recommend Honda Shine with Disc brake it's a nice machine and awesome looks and good mileage too..

Those 3 he selected are basic bikes. Out of the 3 Twister is the best. It looks much better than Yuga or Passion. TVS star city also looks good in that range but don't have much idea about it. But definitely can be an option. If he could compromise 3-4kmpl (my estimate), the Discover 125 ST it is. If only he wants the fun and performance part. Disco 125ST is a much upgrade also. 4valve engine, monoshocks and nice looks.
              Whats there in a signature?

                i suggest p135 with aftermarket foam padding for saddle comfort.vfm,stylish,reasonably powerful,returns a constant mileage 0f 55.
                if not 135,try shine.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.
