  • Is Pulsar 200NS suitable for first timers?

    Hi everyone,

I m a novice rider, and the only past bikes i have ridden are an Tvs Apache 160 and a Bajaj Avenger, that belongs to my friends. I own a Suzuki Access 125, so its not a two wheeler problem, but i m still getting acquainted to gearshifts.

Now i m thinking of buying the new Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, but the problem is the nearby bajaj dealers dont have much info on the bike, and neither am i able to get the bike for a test ride, to see if i can handle it (The bike hasn't reached the showroom yet). So, i decided to seek help from you guys.

My question is, is the Pulsar 200NS a suitable bike for beginners, or will it get too hot to handle?

I m 5'9", and at 75 kgs, and i could handle the Avenger pretty well, i havent seen the 200NS, so i hope someone who has seen it would help me decide that i m "tall" enough for it. Literally.

P.S: I need to take a decision fast, the first lot of the bikes arrive at 25 of this month, if i dont book before then, i will have to wait another four months for the bike

P.P.S: I hope this is the right place for such queries, if it's not, i hope the moderators assist me, and move this to the right place. Thank you

    Thanks in advance guys

    Hi Aswin,

I am around 5 feet 6 and had slight difficulty with the height. but it wasn't much of a problem. for a 5 feet 9 guy, this shouldn't be a problem at all.

    Query approved.

I would say buy it, but perfect gear-shifts on another bike before that. You don't want to damage an expensive bike during run-in by ending up at insane RPMs due to not being in right gear or due to accidental down/up shifts.
Currently without a vehicle. Uber App and Bangalore Metro serving all my travel needs.

@aswin, since u are 5.9", and also have some experience of riding bikes, so IMO it wont be a problem for you.
        Pls update your location status.

Edit - also follow the suggestion of @MHG as well.

          Dude, go for it.

One needs to be atleast 5'7" to be fairly comfortable on it. You'll be fine...
If you've done a few 100 kms on the Avenger and Apache each, you won't be a misfit on the NS. In fact it should be more conventional than riding the cruiser. Just be cautious and ride responsibly

why not start with something little less powerful?
for instance start with a rtr or pulsar 180.those are pretty powerful too.
5'9" shouldn't be a problem, but riding posture will be in between that of avenger and rtr.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

I saw one yesterday, the bike looks big, yes the seat height is a little on the higher side but at 5.9 you should be fine... but dont buy before getting a good test ride.

                    hii aswin...
I dont think at your height (5.9 same as me)riding pulsar ns would be a problem. It is the average indian height & an indian manufacturer like bajaj surely keeps that in mind while designing a new or rather any bike for that case.
If you can handle apache & avenger you can very well handle pulsar ns.
                    Just go for it bro.

Handling is very good, but since its an expensive buy, you need to see touch, feel take a test ride and then take a call. I did a TD I found it very easy to ride, but the foot peck geometry was not so comfortable, it varies person to person though. You need to TD and take a call, but as long as handling is concern you will be at ease with that for sure.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

The same question is asked by a Maruti Alto guy, Can I drive a mini-bus? I'll tell if the mini-bus is power steering then I'll say it would be more easy to drive a mini-bus than a maruti Alto.

                        I'll say Tame The Beast................

I coincidentally rode a well tweaked and powered 2 stroke RX-135? She was eager to fly, she was more aggressive than my 150cc Fiero F2 but it took few seconds of time to get her in control.

Have you seen Avatar. There you can find our guy riding the wild horse for the first time. PS 200 NS is more humble
