  • Full fairing or naked.

    Hello,
I am have this confusion regarding the choice between a bike which has full fairing or a naked one. my core issue is not of style, but of performance although I am not very proficient in aerodynamics, but I am aware at least that some faring would make the bike more streamlined and hence affect it's top speed.
For my purposes, I would prefer a bike for touring, ex from Bengaluru to Chennai or even to the mountains, my current short list is the Pulsar 200ns and the Cbr 250r.
So I ask this, considering the fairing and naked issue, I also wish to know that the bikes which I mentioned, which one would suit my purpose the best.
Style is not an issue, but performance and value for money.

    Thank you for impartial advice.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

This is personal choice i don't think our suggestion would matter here! Mostly Fairing and naked mostly first matters for looks secondly it's purpose!! Naked are also good but fairing has more stability on high speeds only!!, apart from this it's only looks and if fallen then pocket holes!!

For Touring there are many bikes and RE 1st and CBR 2nd tops it!!

Again there will be a War now !! NS200 is blue boy in town with it's exceptional marking today!!

Frankly speaking i Guess if you opt for CBR then go for ABS version else Duke or NS200 is perfect as per your list!!

But don't forget RE TBTS fits your touring purpose!! But surely it's not fro speed!

NS200 is not that good on highways on high speeds neither is Duke!!

CBR is exceptionally stable at 120-140kmph on higways!! Top speed is near to 160kmph.

It has good tour/speed/ FI/Liquid Cool/ 250cc big bike feel! On highways it's awesome!! But surely you can't so ZIg Zac with this machine!! .

NS200 is very similar to R15/Duke while cornering and stability below 120kmph.

NS200 is for those who don't want to spend extra money where as CBR 250 is for those who are ready to spend 1.65L and ABS 2.10L
NS200 is 97800 OTR in thane.

till 110-120kmph NS200 is good, over than any time CBR! CBR is nice but i would prefer ABS only!!

First of most of the people don't like to own REs so that is obvious why he didnt mention that.
Secondly who to spend more when your requirements are met and you are more than complacent Isnt the same hard earned money going to be useful someday?
I would say if you are looking for sheer VFM and want decent performance and close to upright seating position and like cornering then NS200. If you want slightly more performance and 120kmph+ cruising and more of touring and could compromise somwhat in VFM factor and like somwhat forward biassed stance then CBR250R. Take any and you'll be happy
        Whats there in a signature?

For touring i'd personally prefer CBR and definately not a 200NS.. Reason are many and the most important of them is that CBR is capable of touring at higher speeds in a most stable way and also i feel it's comfortable.. Quality of bike is good cause its a honda.. Go for a honda. 200NS i feel is more suited for city rides and a bit of highway and not touring.

Wind blowing on your body at 100kmph can be really tiring on tours, better go for CBR250R if you're more into touring on a regular basis but if you're more into city rides with occasional highway rides/tours then a Pulsar 200NS would be better.

simple funda, for city riding naked stance is boon, for touring fairing is boon, but people tour with naked bikes too.
now for hardcore touring i suggest cbr
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

if you have the budget for cbr then dont even think twice go for it, you wont regret buying cbr because of its looks, top speed and torque, but if you go for 200ns with lesser low end torque and topspeed youll regret ur decision for not going for it even when were able to afford it

                    So wait out?

Thank you for the responses, as far as I know for VFM ns 200 seems to be the go, and fairing seems to be well suited for high speed travelling. Therefore according to me, the most prudent solution seems to be, to just simply wait out. As it was done with the Pulsar 220 s and f , I reckon that even 200 ns may be introduced soon with full fairing. Other wise I may get impatient and go for the CBR.
                    Thank you, once again.

i reckon 200 fs will not be out any time soon,so time for you to make up your mind.

                        Don't say this!! my friend!!!
RE is well behind in many things, but still selling it's product with that not so favorable engine in India as well as abroad!! And don't forget TBTS is best in comfort and torque excellent TOUR MACHINE!! with medium speeds!! <110kmph!!

Just matter of choice nothing else!!

Actually there is nothing so called Value for money!!! These words are people made to just satisfy themselves!! Money is a big essential thing in life!! extra money or savings are always welcome!! But still people decide!!
If some people have budget of 1L and some have 3L then it's simple it's choice and priority!!
Many people said me that why i brought R15 where as P220/Karizma or P180 was available in market!! As per few people Karizma was VFM. But my choice was something different R15, so spend it, where as i was targeting Ninja 250r but it went beyond my reach that time, And i personally don't prefer loans on bike!! So for me R15 is VFM, where you get all features at that time in 2010!!
Few people now say Duke as VFM at 1.37L with the features it offer at 200cc.
Again few people consider CBR ABS as VFM at 2.10L

It's true that if work is done in less amount than why a premium amount??
The difference is people travel in AC bus and Non AC bus, few save and few don't, or few have plenty of earning!!

So i guess it's all about money in pocket!!! nothing else!!!

Are you sure it's in near future??? or you can wait???

If CBR then why not now?? NS200 can't come close to CBR in anyways!! It's different!!
If you are inclined towards speed then any day CBR!! CBR is not that in city either!!
