  • Bike within 1.5 Lakh

    Hi members,

This is my first post in xbhp forums.

I'm from Bangalore and I'm looking forward for your help in selecting my next bike. Currently I'm running Yamaha FZ16 (my beast) and now I think it's time to change the bike.

My budget is till 1.5 Lakh. Here are the constraints, I'm 5'6" and 65kgs. So most importantly the bike should be suitable for person built like me.

I have shortlisted KTM Duke 200, Yamaha R15 V2.0, Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, Honda CBR 250 (in the order of my preference)

My most usage within the city during weekdays and on highways during weekends. The bike should be very good within city. Fuel efficiency is not on the priority list.

P.S: I mostly run the bikes almost close to red-line, so reliability and service becomes important)

I think from my side you should choose between Honda CBR 250 and KTM duke 200 ( you dont have FE issue )
Both bikes are good but dont know how honda servicing is at your city
Yamaha R15 V 2.0 is an awesome bike but you have said that your main usage is in city so you can have problem due to its sporty riding position.
And regarding Pulsar 200 NS i doubt that you should not be comfortable in that bike because of your height
But at last i can only say you that first take TD of all selected bikes then choose it

        Welcome to Xbhp man...

        Duke is your machine bro....

        KTM Duke200
        Advantages -

        1. Superb city machine.
        2. High end low end torque (while driving in traffic no need to change gears frequently).
        3. Mileage is not that much bad though not your concern.
        4. Suits your height and wait (Lightest in the segment with approx 128KG)
        5. Very compact and different alien looker.
        6. Even not that much bad for weekend highway rides.
        7. You can only have a super model as pillion.
Servicing you will need to check in your area.

Even to all this take test ride of all bikes, those you will short list and then decide.

        All the best....

according to me under that budget, CBR250R is the best bike one can have closely followed by Duke 200 as i didn't find Duke a bike having comfortable sitting posture & according to me that every buyer of Duke must change their bike's seat with more comfortable one..though it is still quicker then CBR but CBR is more faster than a Duke..

TD both machines & go for any of them which you like more..

From the list above specially i would anytime recommend you the Mighty CBR250 any given day!!

I have heard that CBR 250 has nice city relations too. It can be ridden in city as well as on highways. But if you consider purely city then INMO it would be Duke.

But when i read these lines then i think you are more towards speed!!

So if you want the adrenaline around red-lines then CBR250 all the way, because it's more stable on high speed than Duke. People are getting decent average too. I won't comment on SVC as i believe that it's more or less same for all brands.

Second: From your list R15 is more excellent in terms braking and handling. Can be maneuver more nicely on corners! R15 is really kool near redlines, But CBR250 has more power which R15 lacks.

Anytime a CBR250 if you are not looks freak!

choose either duke or cbr.if you are redline freak i suggest duke.cbr is a bit lazy in that respect.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

                Hi people,

Thank you so much for your advice. I think Pulsar 200NS is out of my list as of now.

                Will test drive Duke 200, CBR 250 & R15 V2.0

I have ridden R15 V2.0 for short stint and felt good on highways but when back in the city I needed to shift gears more often. That's the issue with R15 V2.0

Anyways I'm more inclined towards Duke 200 but will test drive both Duke 200 & CBR 250 and will decide.

cbr250r is 1.7 lakhs on road for the non abs version
i would say get the duke 200 and use the extra cash and change the exhausts and pimp it up!!

Duke any day, not because I own one, however I was contemplating the R15, Duke and CBR 250R. Chose the Duke mainly for its Street capabilities. I don't think the CBR's full potential can be realized within city limits. However, most Dukers whom I know feel the Dukes potential even within city limits, Thanks to it's zippy acceleration / short gear ratios.

I felt the CBR a bit over priced for the quality of the materials used. Not that I have anything against Honda, I have had a Honda Unicorn for about 7 years and still have it. Service wise, KTM / Bajaj guys are more attentive / responsive to the customer. Probably it's because the bike is a new launch and this could deteriorate over time, however we are enjoying the service as of now

Test ride and figure out which is suitable for your needs. Also, please let us know your decision and the reasons behind it
