SS125 is a capable bike, but for some reason it hasn't really taken off in the market. Mileage of Yamaha bikes is usually not the strongest point!

Discover 125ST, even though pretty new in market, thanks to Discover branding, has taken off really well.

IMO, it's always better to go with the popular product so that you won't get into any problems with spares or service. I would go with Discover 125ST in this case, it's got 4-valve engine, more power, monoshock, good mileage, Bajaj service backup are good enough reasons.

Anytime Discover ST125, because of it's good features. i guess average wise both are pretty close to each other. SVC wise Bajaj is anytime affordable. quality wise Yamaha is also good!

Don't know why but i don't consider ST as a tourer bike!! don't know why?? my personal opinion!!

It's a nice city/commuter bike!! Actually i would say go with a bike which has SVC close to your home!! This saves lot of stress or time!!

I agree with you totally!! It is really not a tourer bike, its just a commuter bike which can run at 80-90 kmph on the highway without stressing as much as a regular 125 (like Stunner or Shine) would, but still manage to return FE at par with the 125cc segment! If today I had to buy a light, zippy and fuel efficient commuter for myself, this bike would surely be one of the top 2 candidates (the other one being the Discover 150 )!

Very practical advice, but don't keep this as the only deciding factor.

The reason we mentioned that Discover 125ST is not a Sports Tourer (Fullform of the Acronym ST) is that it doesn't become one just because Bajaj named it as one. BAL also called the P220 a Sports Bike, something which it is definitely not! The genre that these bikes (SS125 / D125ST / Unicorn) belong, these bikes are mainly supposed to be used as city bikes with occasional inter-city highway usage (once/twice a month).

That said, people tour on HH Splendor/Passion, Bajaj M80/Caliber/Platina and Kinetic Honda scooter all the time. But this fact also doesn't make them *ideal* touring tools. Why? Because there are better touring tools available today in the market than those mentioned here.

Amongst the 2, I would rate the Discover higher than the Yamaha since that will help you cover distances on a Highway faster than a SS125 aided by the higher power. (How? You will know when you ride out.) The difference may seem small numerically, but it makes a lot of difference on the road. When it comes to distance you can cover at a stretch, most bikes can easily outlast the capacity of your butt to continuously stay on the saddle .

Please read the detailed review of the Discover 125ST It covers all the aspects you are looking for.

Test ride all 3 bikes (from your original shortlist) and then come to a decision about which one suits you best.

Both are not a tourer bike in any ways, actual tourer bikes are bikes which has super comfortable riding position with good ability to cruise on highway and stable against the winds, mostly it should be a good relaxed bike which helps you to ride maximum distance with out much strain.

RE TBTS and Avenger are actual Tourer bikes made by an indian manufacturer.

Yes it might be good in handling or braking but it won't be a tourer bike in any sense.. If you are mainly concern on touring ability then seriously think on Avenger or TBTS or any other RE product!!

SS125 or D125ST are nothing but an oridnary commuter bike with good average comapre to other 150 or higher cc bike.
