  • Confused!! R15 or CBR 250r?!!

Hi Guys..!! i m totally confused ! i was much determined to get CBR 250r (STD) as my first bike ! i was ready to pay full cash. enquired many dealers in chennai all of them kept saying the following things.

    1)2 months waiting period
2)ABS variant is available and is much advisable
3)You can take home 150r it is similar to 250r.

I was totally stunned. I wanted a bike very soon. but the waiting period has killed me badly. I had only cbr 250r black and R15 black in my mind as my first bike. So i enquired about R15 and got a happy news that they give it on that day itself on payment. The thing that is bothering me is My Height which is 6ft. Would the bike suit me?

My suggestion: Wait it out. This 2 month wait will seem minuscule in the grand scheme of things when you do get your hands on the bike you really want. Or else, you will lust on for one whenever you pass one on the road. The smart thing, IMO, is to wait it out.

P.S.: If your budget is flexible enough to include the CBR250R ABS version, pick it up right now and save us all the effort .
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I don't understand how can a person wants something undecided??
There is a huge difference in CBR 250 and R15 in all aspects?? So how come the confusion came into picture??

Anybody here will suggest you CBR 250 only just because of it's power and speed.
But the only thing CBR lacks is the excellent handling and braking of R15 and R15 lacks the power and speed of CBR.
But don't forget both are based on different design and purpose i.e R15 is a sports bike and CBR is a Sport Tourer!! SO any one who rides a ST should ride it like that not like a Sports Bike!!

Now some facts: R15 cornering is something used very rare in city or highway. So, CBR makes sense in all way if you are not fan of R15 looks

Kick that salesperson's A$$ next time you go there for saying CBR 150 and 250 are same!!! (BTW was it for looks or engine??, hold your kick then then!!)

When you can spend 1.6L in cash then why not just pay 1.4 and take an EMI for 60k to get an ABS version which is actually a best buy any one can get in 2L.60k emi will be over in a yr or you can close it anytime.

My recommedation is CBR ABS only...
Both bikes needs some good highway to enjoy!!

          Actually bro.
I am sorry if i had chosen the wrong tags for this thread. I am totally aware that CBR250r and R15 are totally of different classes both are masters of their own league. But the thing is i dont want to regret my decision and choose the wrong one as my first bike is like my first love.

I would be riding on highways occasionally for my college. I dont want to end up with cruisers as i am more passionate about sporty riding. I want a bike that would inspire me for higher capacity in later stages of my life when i Earn my money. Now this money is from my parents so i am instructed to abide by their constraints to a certain extent while spending.

CBR250r was what my mind was totally set on. But the Waiting period has taken me aback. ABS is absolutely an important aspect for riding no doubt but i was not allowed to get it because of my parents as they felt its too costly to spend for a bike and car would be a more practical choice[again constraints ].

Each and every Showroom guy diverted my attention towards 150r saying that it looks exactly same as the 250r why dont you opt for it as you can take it delivered soon. Further he continued saying that if its 250r ABS would be the one if not 150r is more than enough. I was shocked hearing this. Why arent they encouraging customers who prefer the bike without ABS too?

I had a third choice of Pulsar220 i had ridden it many times from my pal. It seems to loose control at some point of time and the main stand kept hitting the road in corners which made me panic and reject it from my wishlist. even though it was marketed as India's No1 Sports bike it does not feel secured to ride it as a sports bike

I was very eagerly following the spy pics of R15 to its launch and even now i just keep looking at it for hours in the R15 v2's FB fan page. Its so tempting!! I initially drove my pal's R15 V1 i loved it from that very moment but the only thing that bothered me in that version is the Rear Tyre and the height. Me Being tall i felt that it would look awkward. The moment i saw the first spy pic of V2 i was totally impressed and ready judging that it would suit tall riders. Me being a 6ft guy would it suit me or tall riders in General? please do let me know if there are other choices and help me!

IN your statement it's very simple that you love sport riding so it's clear that you want R15. But here I think that you are compromising the CBR power and speed.

If you can afford 2L bike then you should surely wait 2 months or so for a bike like CBR with ABS any day!!

No showroom would keep ABS models in his godown and wait for owner to come and buybecuase
              1. It's costly i.e 2L, still masses think like your parents we get a car in 2L. which is practical.
              2. Still masses are not educated on ABS tech so ABS models are rare to find in ready delivery.
              3. 150r is 1.4L which is now a normal buy for people so they keep that bike and it gets sell also.

If you like CBR then go for it else go for R15 if you are not that pillion concerned. College students should have R15 only.

P220 is not at all a Sports bike from any side!! It's a street bike. But very nice on touring.

Go with R15 as it's best looking bike with excellent handling and braking along with mid range torque has been improved in new R15. Else CBR 250 any given day if you are hungry for power and speed!!

Its simple, if you want to go for looks and will be riding solo most of the time, go for the R15. If you plan to go for long rides with your bike on the highways, provided that you can shell out the money go for the CBR 250. And go for the ABS version, its an excellent technology that can save both you and your ride many times (Just don't become too dependent on it though, practice your braking without ABS too). And regarding your height, I think the CBR will suit you just fine. Personally I would pick the CBR 250 ABS if I had the money. Test ride both bikes and decide by yourself on comfort.
