  • Thunderbird/Classic 500 (or) Duke (or) CBR250R

    Hi,

I am posting this on behalf of my friend (he is the process of registering himself here!). He is switching from his old Pulsar 200 DTSi to a new bike and the debate over which one is on and on for months, choosing one seems almost impossible; need help badly from my fellow brothers!

He is 6'3" and quite well built, travels 50% Highway max and rest city. Being a previous Pulsar owner, he wants power (more power and performance than his previous bike!) thus the shortlisted bikes.

    • Thunderbird/Classic 500
    • Duke
    • CBR250R

All the three bikes are within the budget. FE is almost similar figures for three bikes, so that will keep him happy!

I know three of them are three different kinds of bikes, it is like asking me to choose idli or paneer butter masala (I love both!)... But would love to know your view!

He is not much of a tourer, travels by highways (only 50 % - 60 % of his journey), not a daily commuter to office. Loves a wonderful handler, swears by his FZ... and that guy who loves to zip zap through travel, but also looks at CBR250R`s zip through him while travelling through the highway sadly!

    Please help!

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

@jabirahmed: This is even more confusion... with Duke in it!

Nope not at all, FZ and Duke are something different bikes specially made for city/Street.

for that kind of riding..D200 suits the best..but if he wants more top end then only go for CBR250R..
& tell your friend to stop considering bulls for that kind of riding

No, it will be hard to handle a CBR in traffic filled city roads. You've mentioned he'll be going on the highways most of the time (50%~60%), but not the distance. If he's going for long distances on the highway, he should pick CBR 250 ABS. If its only gonna be short tours on the highways, Duke will do just fine.

I rode a few CBR's that were 6 months old and i could feel everything loose and shaky.. so decided on a duke.. try taking a friends bike out for a ride instead of the demo bike..

Duke is awesome feels rugged, powerful and RAW.
