Impulse is excellent for touring except for the fact that it struggles after 100 + kmph .Its comfort is unbeatable ,the seat is spacious and you don't have to worry about GC

Yeah.. Impulse could be a best bike to play those roads
But there can be an issue of the Altitude.. It may struggle at some places.. Though can be manageable.. But with the carb jugaad. It could be amazingly fun.
And I dont think you may have any serious GC issue up there on a CBR. I would still suggest, try to shift the month to early June then July to reduce chances of rains/slush/water crossings.

Good point. Didn't think if they'll have sizes for CBR250R tyres. From what I've come across in forums, I have seen PSD, Dunlop and Conti only as the CBR tyre choices. And yeah the Leh trip will be in under a years time from now. I might go once in two years but will definitely visit once. In one of the threads regarding tyre change for CBR250R, I read that PSD will not offer good grip on wet roads. Dunlop and Conti are better than PSD for wet grip. I badly want to buy a CBR250R but with the Leh trip in mind, I am thinking twice before deciding and I can't do it in my Stunner as well. I've read from you posts that one can take the CBR250R to Leh and the only limitation is himself. Comparing other bikes I just love a CBR250R lets say I have a fairing fetish :-) . Spares availability should not be a problem in Chennai and Didar Honda's Service is good. Probably I shouldn't be thinking too much and just go ahead and buy a CBR250R and I think I will do just that for the commute to office, the Leh trip and many more trips to come. By the way, do you plan to ride to Leh on your CBR250R? You have had your bike for more than a year. Can I just go ahead and buy it?

I don't feel Impulse is the bike for me. I don't like the design of the Impulse and I don't think it will be good and lasting for long rides always. And I think its a Hero product and not a Hero Honda product (I maybe wrong here). I don't trust the Impulse to be good for very long rides and its my personal opinion. As for my love for CBR250R, I absolutely love it. Just that I am consulting and thinking twice before deciding.

Its not just hero product ,the engine is same as cbz/unicorn family .Its also good for very long rides .Nikhil sood (id niks_devil) has done leh with his impulse

So you didn't know MRF ALSO makes one & PSD's are considered illegal to import anymore & the old stocks are stocked up to inflate the prices

Well...in one of the thread in xBhp I read that 90% constitutes the rider & 10% to the machine & I started believe in it

That I don't know; you've to ask that question to yourself; like everyone said, there're people who've done Leh/Ladakh in M80, Activa & Chetak; so it's not the ride, it's the rider that matters. Before you take to Ladakh, try doing several long rides, understand yourself & your machine more. Make yourself mentally comfortable & the bonding, after that, given a chance you can ride to Tora-Bora mountains

I don't think anyone here, ever, consulted, or discussed pros and cons of their girl friends/love ever!!!! They directly regreted or lived their future. So love is love. There are many impulse rider doing good trips..so durability isn't a question, reliability comes with hero... If you want cbr then buy it, i don't think any cbr owers who went to leh/ladakh changed their tyres for this trip.... I may be wrong but din't read or heard..if people can do it on r15 then cbr would be easy then that....

I just read it in xBhp and TeamBhp about Nikhil's Leh trip on a Hero Impulse. It changed my perception about Impulse. But still will go with the CBR250R though.

I do know about the MRF Zapper tyres. I already have them on my Stunner. But from what I've experienced, Zapper doesn't have good grip on wet roads. Stunner has skid few times with the Zapper during rains. As for PSD, I know they dont have ISI mark but didnt know the prices were inflated.'I have done few long rides on my Stunner but they have not lasted more than 300-350KM one way and have been weekend rides only. So will do a few rides after I get the CBR to get accustomed to the sporty seating position and the bike. Anyway first things first, will go to Didar Honda and book one first. Will check about the tyres later.

Well said. I should just go with a CBR250R and not think too much.

If LEH (Offroad in general) is where you want to tread... wait for a bit. There have been some news of the CBR250R based CRF250L to come to India.

That machine can kick some mighty butt...

Get a CBR250 remove the fairing - Use a TB 500 type projector setup (using a classic P150 type headlamp casing) -Return from the trip - Put the fairing back - Use the projector on the original fairing.

This will surely void the warranty if projector is kept after before the warranty period is over.....

Plus, forget sourcing a TB500 projector setup, the deliveries are yet to start in some places or have veeeeeery looooong queues. Sourcing spares for a new TB is another story.

I never said TB 500 projecter. I said TB 500 type projector set up(using a classic P150, headligh casing),for cheap alternative. Well, about the warranty,do the mods outside the showroom,then after returning,put everything back to stock(again out of the ASS's knowledge),and enjoy the warranty.... Its the cheapest option You can follow.
As far as the tires are concerned.... People have Lehed on shitty TVS tires aswell ... so dont worry....

How to fit a projector & HID without altering (cutting) the stock wiring harness? Is it possible? To my knowledge, it's not possible on CBR 250R; and to put back the stock wiring harness after cutting is close to impossible. If you can let us know how to accomplish this, it would be great. Tks.

CBR150/250 for LEH:
So there are people who buy a sub 1.5 lac bike just to get Lehd. And then what do they do with it forever? I know someone who owns a N250R and still borrowed friend's FZ for the Leh Ride, let the friend keep the quaker for the period. And now he is happily riding back his quarter liter bike for his needs for which he bought it in first place ....

IN THESE 2 BIKES you better go for CBR 250R because it offers good torque which is essential for such terrain ........ you can also go in for tried & tested ZMA R & save money for riding gear..
