Just came back from a very short test ride of FZ16, things I found out:

1) Its handle seems to be a bit higher than RTR FI for me. And I like to drive bikes with lowered handles. I found RTR FI more manageable and in control.
2) Feels really big and cool bike to ride on.
3) Stuck in Neutral twice between 1st and 2nd. More over I couldn't find difference between 2nd and 3rd -- may bevery slight difference .. a good thing about this is that we can ride in 3rd at a very low speed like 20kmpl comfortable. Otherwise gear shifting was good.

I'll go for test rides of Unicorn and GS150R, if possible, on this weekend.

Hey bro, had been to Suzuki show-room this weekend and the show room guyz said, no test ride till Jan... The bike is available only for display. Regarding the Unicorn, if you're planning for Grand Prix edition, make it fast, they were released in very small numbers & there are only a few pieces left. Insist on seeing the color by yourself before making any choice. Most of the showrooms will be closed sunday post-lunch. Better do it on Saturday itself

I'll go for test rides on Saturday only. I don't like Grand Prix colors (no hard feelings, just my personal choice), instead I like full Black one.

Fr Suzuki .. they told me the same thing but it seems that in other cities they are giving out GS150R for test drives.

nothing personal but if ur r looking for a bike for a long term ownership say 2 yrs or more , I think Pulsar 200 will b best bike in ur choices.

GS150R being too new to purchase, thats why I think so. market response, any glitches n all.

Well! on the contrary, If you are looking for long term then dont even get close to chinese and bajaj bikes.

Honda Unicorn is the bike for you, ever so reliable, good quality materials, good on mileage, engline and transmission is on a different league and powerful too.

You can consider Fz too, its a bit expensive though, down on mileage, but a notch above others in terms of looks.

Set your priorities, shortlist the ones that meets your citeria, Take a long test ride on your shortlisted bikes.... then do the inky-pinky-ponky thingy

i suggested unicorn cuz u dont seem to be much in performance........

otherwise the best bike to go for is the RTR FI....nothin comes close to it amongst the list u mentioned.........

True .. I am not into the power/performance as such but I found RTR best maneuverable bike. Certainly I'll be testing Unicorn before making a decision.

my suggestion
go for RTR ...i m having it since 4 month and it rocks...but the vibration matters some times......It roars like the lion on the road ....and in the perfomance as well...
abt unicorn its so silent that u might feel sleepin while riding...feels so..

but the final decision is urs

have been driving fz for past three months.a great bike to commute and tour,great pick up,good posture,very comfortable even on very poor roads.its not that fuel eff.,giving me only 40kmpl.but otherwise a real king of the streets

I also took the test ride(though pretty short one) and found out it to be *good* but felt somewhat bulky and hard to control as compared to APACHE RTR(so far, tested these 2 only).

As you are using can you tell me more about some common problems I heard about the bike:

1) Leg Guard -- did you get company fit?
2) Horn -- did you upgrade it?
3) small size of back/front mud gurad -- which results in soaked shirt or pant in a after rain ride -- have you put an extension.
4) Pillion seat size: can a fairer gender sit on pillion seat in one sided posture?
5) Any rusting problem ?? Like it has been listed for R15 in the ownership thread. Or FZ16 has a better build quality?

i dint really think i would be posting here. i understand the concerns you have listed above. and very true. it does make a lot of sense. after all you can't avoid certain accidents that the bike may fall sideways.

1. yes there are dealer fitted Crash Bars.
2. honestly, i am not a fan of loud horns, in traffic, i have noticed most bikers think its in their privilege that auto rickshaws, cab drivers and other move when stuck in jam. ( its annoying and adds to noise pollution. at least we can educate our fellow xbhp bikers on safety and pollution.

3. Honestly for a motorcycle. really how much can you save yourself. and why would you not wear a jacket and slip on plastic pants that you get for 300 bucks or so. i mean its a motorcycle not a car.

4. yes this option, i really have no argument. but then again. the purpose of this bike is lost. you need a sturdy motorcycle to have someone ( specially a lady) sitting sideways.

5. this depends on where you live, what water or chemical you are using to wash the bike. etc. etc.

just some pointer.

But when I talked to three dealers here in Blr(Panache, Orion and Bharat), they did not confirm that now they are getting crash bars by default and were saying that it can be fitted as accessories. Can anyone give me better pointer in bangalore.

Very true .. but if they blow loud horns then they also expect the same to be noticed by them. I mean if you have weak horns in a herd of noise ninjas, they may not notice you.

Yes, a possible solution .. but it does sound and look odd if we wear these plastic attires at after rain times. So you don't have rain but muds are around .. for that time you need some small protection from the mud. I am not asking roof like a car, but just an ability to have some sort of effective solution for unwanted feature of a thick rain after a normal rain :P.

That means FZ is not sturdy enough to carry a lady? If someone goes with her better half on this bike .. it's purpose lose

Yes, had a test ride yesterday and found it good.

- Really good at handling.
- Mileage they say ~45 .. which is Ok.
- Style is Ok as per me.. but really liked integrated blinkers in head and tail lights. Missed digi speedo.
Also, I never like it's kicker which needs foot rest to be lifted up.

Also test rode Hunk .. which is almost same.
But hero honda always had an edge on quality and resale value.

Me suggesting don't go for hero honda not as peppy as fz16 or RTR.
Fz16 best bikes as for your query based. I make many girls to sat on fz16.

Thanks Ansh!! did they sit side wise or astride? I am concerned for the case when one wants to sit side wise.
