  • New FZ 16 (2012) or Pulsar 200 NS - Pillion comfort necessary.

Well, I have been planning to buy a bike, but i am really confused what to go for.
I need a bike which, I could use for small trips for about 100 -120 kms with a pillion rider, and long trips like 400kms, which I would be riding single.

Currently I own the Discover 110 (2005), which was the first model of Discover and I have done trips on that bike for around 450 kms in a day. Well, my back did get brutally sore on that day, that's another story!
Recently i had done a short trip for around 100 kms with a pillion rider (my gf) and she never wants to do it again on this bike, she indeed had a tough time on the bike. Obviously the vibrations are too high at 80-90kmph, and she got cramps in her legs due to that!

But right now I am planning to buy a bike with :
    - Better riding comfort and pillion comfort,
    - Nil Vibrations,
    - Good power and looks,
    - Better riding in the city as well,
As I would have to travel through city to my office through Outer ring road for around 25kms (one-way). And i am a kind of person who loves to zig-zag and zoom through traffic in Bangalore.
I was really interested into Avenger, but right now its really not an option. I might miss my city driving skills. :P

Though I have heard about the comfort level in FZ is high for the rider (also i have ridden it), but not for pillion in the older versions of FZ. But the updated FZs released in 2012 have better pillion seats, needed some reviews about that. FZs indeed can be used for long drives, they do provide very good comfort to the rider and they have almost nil vibrations!

I could update my budget and go for the Pulsar 200Ns. Oh, its an Eyegasmic beauty. But i really need to know about the comfort level for rider, and comfort level for the pillion as well!

Regarding my budget, its upto buying an FZ. Though i could extend it to buying a 200NS, just because of the love for its power and beauty and everything. But, like i said, the comfort level, is it better than FZ?
Also i would like to have a mileage of at-least 35+ or 40 in highway, and both these bikes I mentioned provide them.

    Please Suggest.

    Regards.

    Thread Approved

Bro, the best option would be that you test ride both bikes and take your GF along for the test ride. But I think you are going to eventually settle for the Karizma because thats your best option with a good pillion seat on a touring specific bike.

Anyways, take your GF for another couple of shorter rides and stress on more hydration. That should help with the cramps.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Thanks for the reply. Karizma R is a good option as well and I am thinking about it. But as its a old one, I am thinking to go for something withe the "New gen" stuff.
Meanwhile, any 200NS owners who could share their views on Comfort in the bike?
Or FZ 2012 owners, with the wider pillion Seats.
I m really keen on goin for 200NS itself, so If anyone has done a long drive on the 200NS please share your views?

I have done short trip on 200NS, if you are taller above 5 10", you will feel cramped for space with your legs. This bike is for street fun, cornering definetly not for touring. You will find your wrists and neck paining on long trips. Its a great bike though, it will perform great but not for trips. Pillion comfort is decent in 200ns.

Not sure if you will like the 'impulse', but it suits exactly your riding needs, you can enjoy zip-zaps in traffic and will do good in trips. Mileage will be around 40-45 with sane driving. Pillion comfort is decent but need some skill in getting on and off (for both rider and pillion ) .

As Ants told, Karizma is best fit, it has the power and comfort and reliability, you cant TD and pick.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).
