  • First bike <1lac : P180 or P220? (No FZ/200NS please)

    Hi guys,
I am looking forward to get a first bike and I want to get Pulsar. Either 220 or 180.
But many people told me that the Pulsars require more maintenance. And I am scared that I will need to rush to Service Center every now and then.
If you think, this is true, please suggest me another option within same price range (100K max).
If you think, Pulsars are great then tell me which one is better?(220 or 180)
P.S. I don't like monster look (no offence FZ fans), so Pulsar 200NS and FZ are already out.
    Thanks!

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Hey its not like you need to rush the bike to service every now and then, my colluge has a bajaj 180 and last time he serviced must have been 6 months ago. He doesnt service it regularly after the free service as according to him each time they service they simply pull up a long bill and its not like he rides a lot, so his bike only goes to service when it stalls. Its about 3 to 4 yr old and run 25K km without proper maintainance and he is now seeing starting troubles, engine stalling, power loss and milege has dropped to 20km/lt. That's for a worst maintained bike ever according to me. A rough estimate of complete overhaul of new set of piston, rings, tappet adjustment, tuning, air filter, spark plugs, battery, chain+sprocket and labour should set him back by a max of 10K.
Probably if he had kept the bike in proper maintainance, i don't think the pulsar should have been any problem for atleast 30K-40K Km.
But then its with almost all the people, they only care for the vehicle for a year or so, then they don't get time to leave the bike for service and it just gets pushed. Same with my Activa too, last time it was serviced must be 4 1/2 months ago and I have to give to to service some time soon.

Though, I do agree that overall life of the bajaj bike is lesser than others and there does exist a little more wear and tear but then the cost of the spares too are similarly lesser priced than compitetors. In case you want to think else where than a Bajaj stable. Go for the RTR180 ABS. Once you ride it with ABS ON in highway, then you will not be able to close your open mouth!

There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

Go for P220 but beware as Bajaj may launch a faired version of P200ns as well as upgraded 180 very soon!!
