  • For a Newbie! Upto 80K Budget

    Hi
I have just recently started learning how to Ride on my friends Pulsar 180. I was actually stuck on buying an Aviator for driving in city, but now bikes caught my attention.
I am ~6' well built guy weighing 78KG, aged 21. I am about to buy my first bike soon, Maybe in a week (or two at max) and need your suggestions

    Requirements:
    1. Good Ride Comfort and Handling.

    1. Should have good riding position and pillion comfort.
    2. A good refined engine. FE is not much of a problem as I take it out for small distances, in city. But it shouldn't burn my pocket. (Still a student -last semester)
    3. I will sometimes go on a long drive on highway to college (once a week) ,so it should not have the vibration problem ( as in Apache)
    4. Should be beginner friendly and safe. Of course will also be buying good gear along with it.
    5. Should have a good design.

Budget: upto 70K(ex-showroom). That makes in 80K on Road.

Considerations: I live in Hyderabad, and the traffic over here is a nightmare! So, I was thinking if you can suggest me a good one. I am thinking to buy a CBZ Xtreme or FZ-16 or Apache RTR160(new model)

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Since this is going to be your first bike, I'd suggest you to stick to the 150-160cc band and not jump to more powerful bikes.
If you are looking for a refined engine with comfortable seating which should be good for highway use as well, then look no further than the Honda Dazzler or the Hero Xtreme. The Dazzler exceeds your budget by a very small margin but it will provide everything in one go: Reliability, Performance, Refinement, Comfort and Features.

The Yamaha is also a good choice if pillion comfort is not a major criteria. You may consider the Fazer over the FZS if you are planning for longer rides as the faired version will provide better weather protection.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!
