  • hero honda hunk vs honda dazzler

    Hi every1,

I am 23 years old, 5 feet 8 inches and weigh about 65kgs. I am looking for a 150 cc bike. I usually drive to my office which is nearly 40 kms away from my house and the road is 10 kms in the city and 30 kms on the highway. Other than this I prefer to go out for a long drive in the weekends.
    My preferences are
    1. A good mileage of 50 kmpl
    2. Nice sitting position (both for the rider and also for the pillion)
    3. Nice looks
I had a look at all the below bikes
    1. Hero Hunk
    2. Hero Impulse
    3. Honda Dazzler
    4. Yamaha FZS
    5. Yamaha SZR
    6. Suzuki GS150R
Personally I have ruled out Impulse because even my pop has to drive the bike. I had to rule out FZS because of it mileage. I did not consider hero CBZ extreme because they are huge in number on the streets and I don’t like it much.

I don’t know about Yamaha SZR much but would like to know more about it. I had a ride on the Suzuki GS150R and I think that it is a pretty decent bike but it misses the Killer looks (No offence meant ).

I like the Hero HUNK but my friend is of the opinion that Honda DAZZLER is a better choice in terms of its engine, power pick up, gearbox performance, mono suspension and finally mileage. BUT I feel that it looks kinda small like twister . I liked the Hunk more.

It is that my family has been a Hero Honda family so I like it that way probably. Even the spares of Hero Honda are easy to be found and they have a good re-sale value.

I would like all the members who have had a chance at these bikes to enlighten me on the problems associated with the bikes (mostly Hunk seems to have problems). What would be the problems that I might be facing after 1 year or so.

    Please suggest me a bike.

Any other suggestions are also welcome.

    Thank You..

I would suggest you to go ahead with Yamaha FZS. It is a very nice bike. I am also on the process of buying a new bike. But my requirement is above 150 i.e. 200 or 350cc.

      Safe Riding!!

among dazzler and hunk, I'd go for dazzler because of the features your friend mentioned. Also, the pillion seat of hunk is not so comfortable.
Well, you can't get a perfect bike. You have to compromise on something.
If looks mean that much to you, get FZ/R15. both return 45+ on sane driving

Did you ride R15. It feels completely different for someone who is riding unicorn, dazzler etc. I think its a track motorbike and one will not enjoy it in traffic.

FZ is the bike you can look at. Its great for what it is meant for.

You need to read through the SZR ownership review. Its a good bike for your requirement. Since I too travel to college about 60km up and down a day and it fulfils all your requirement of giving mileage and being a 150cc bike with looks and good seating comfort, no vibrations, etc.

Perhaps if looks arent your thing then your riding condition with more of an highway so you may check out GS150R, a superb bike, but servicing and spares is a issue.

The Hunk feels very outdated now.
The dual tone Dazzler launched in Nov 2011 looks a bit more appealing.
The SZ-R is good for what it offers.

Tough choice between the last two but if i was you i'd go for the Dazzler for a peace of mind.
Or wait for the Auto expo in the next few days, there will be new 150cc commuters for the market.

i am a happy owner of dazzler and can say without thinking twice that it can satisfy your purpose perfectly. its not actually smaller except from front look. and your friend has pointed out exact plus points of dazzler.

I was also in your same problem few months ago recently bought Honda dazzler

Gs150R is good bike with good mileage, mature looks(Look quite boring IMO) and very poor service network.mileage is around 55-60 kmpl in Eco mode at speed around 55 kmph
You can go for it only if Suzuki showroom is in your city not nearby city.

HUNK is very good bike and now has become too common and heard new batch or bike in 2013 are getting more problem even in new bike. don't know why or its with my friends only.
Mileage of hunk is around 40-45 kmpl and some people get around 50 kmpl i don't know how as my brother never got above 50 kmpl after maintaining it around 45 kmph

Dazzler has all the advantages of unicorn with mileage around 50 kmpl and greater if you ride in proper way. look wise some people hate only because it looks like twister.

Szr good bike with average look not too old nor new, midway between both, mileage is around 45-50 kmpl AFAIK cheapest of all 150cc bikes and heard fibre is some what cheap quality and bike has more fiber if your budget is less you can go for it

from all these bike which will be satisfy your needs properly will be Hunk and dazzler both share same engine of honda.Dazzler is having slightly better mileage than hunk by 5-10kmpl . i also narrowed at these two bikes then heard a news from honda dealer(good friend of my dad) that after 2014 hunk will get spare part issue as hero and honda patent will end in 2014(you can say it rumour as i dont have any legal or trusty source) so instead of playing a risky dice i bought a safe choice of honda dazzler.

i will suggest you to get a TD, choose a bike which appeals you most irrespective of anyone's saying and which satisfies your need perfectly.

                          Edited:-

@Nikhil : if your choice is only two bikes and your need is stress free engine at 80 kmph
its a easy decision that you should opt for Dazzler as it does not vibrates on speed of 80(tested on my frriends bike as my bike is in runin) while hunk vibrates a lot comparable to dazzler.
mileage will be more of dazzler at speed of 80 as hunk mileage reduces sharply you will get near 40 kmpl.

TD both bikes at speed of 80kmph and then choose your bike.

Dazzler it is. Almost free from vibrations and a super smooth engine. And the unicorn's never go wrong.
