  • Suggest First Dream Bike

I am 5" 7' with weight of 72Kgs, looking to buy my first bike. requirements:

Daily run: 10-15km in city with occasional long rides on highways
Mileage & Styling: since its my first bike, Styling is more important. anything over 35kmpl will do.
Riding Style & driving conditions: not a fast rider, focus is more on safety. though, I enjoy redlining given clear roads. important thing is, the bike should have good suspension to withstand legendary potholes of our indian roads

    Currently looking at:
    • Fazer
    • Pulsar NS
    • Duke 200
    • Avenger
    • R15
    • CB Twister

As you may notice from the above list, I am confused. so let me decide

Just for clarification, are we looking at CB Twister or CB Trigger?

Also, you might also include Hero Impulse to that longish shortlist of yours .
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I would suggest you to go for Yamaha Fazer.
      A great bike.
The Fazer is Stylish, the bike's Headlamps are simply outstanding & give a massive appeal. The bike is Fuel efficient , the good point about Fazer is Yamaha's Quality.
The bike is of a Good quality. Comfortable for long rides (only for Rider, not the Pillion
      .
Good mileage of 40kmph in city under economy riding.
One thing you will love in Fazer is its Handling.
Has superb Roadgrip, Powerful braking, Cornering on a Fazer/ Fz16 is a fun.
However the maintenance/spares costs are lil bit high.
Coming to City riding, Fazer/fz16 is a great bike. Punchy.
Out on the highway too, the performance is fair, but speeds above 110 kmph arent possible so easily.
The 1'st gear is short though, the Fazer/fz16 takes a good boost in the 3'rd gear.
Royal Enfield Bullet Standard 350cc 1989, Bajaj Avenger 200-2009, Pulsar 200 NS 2015.

BTW which one you feel is the best looking ??
Because in mileage, apart from twister all others are almost same 35-45kmpl?
No bike in India can handle the legendary potholes apart from Impulse.

So which one you like from the list as per looks is the one who are looking for.

Looks are subjective so by features the list are:

        1. Duke
        2. R15
        3. NS200
        4. Frazer/Avenger
        5. Twister

Now choose either by looks or by features.

          Thoughts on each model:
          • Fazer - its basically fz + front fairing. I like it but is it worth extra money over fz? specially when that fairing will reduce its mileage & will be expensive to replace in case of accident(fall down, I mean.)
          • Pulsar NS - Excellent Ride & looks awesome. However, I am concerned if it would suit me as its saddle height is high.
          • Duke 200 - Best of the lot, I love it but 1.5Lac is out of my budget, I am looking at bikes around 1lac only.
          • Avenger - Love the cruzer style bikes as the ride is quite comfortable but Its a quite old model - 4yrs & counting. so old looks. is bajaj doing a refresh to this mean machine in near future?
          • R15 - Took a test ride of thing beauty, loved it. its packs a punch. but I need to seat a pillion, so not considering it.
          • CB Twister - Also, took a test ride of this. Looks decent for bike in this price bracket but ride quality is shit. will sitting new wider types help?
          • Impulse - Funky & cool looking bike made for weekend rides but not sure how will be it for everyday use. wearing formals & riding this crazy iron horse would looks weird right?

You can choose between the FZ-S or the 200NS. TD both and see which suits you better. If you find the P200's height comfortable, do go for it!
I am around 5'9 and found the P200 very good. There were lots of rumours about Bajaj updating the Avenger's engine with the new mill from the 200NS but that didn't happen sadly and we have no picture if that will happen anytime soon.

You could also check the P220 or the ZMR, both are comfortable and will suit your budget - though slightly outdated.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Did you take a Test Ride of NS200 ?? I am 5.5 and my friend who owns NS200 is 5.4 ft height we both ride NS200 easily in traffic as well as on highway that too with and without pillion.
              Now you decide!!

BTW nothing beats NS200 in 1L range!!
