Advantage Duke 390:
More powerful
More brutal acceleration
Fatter tyres
USD shocks
ABS
Lower weight (17 kg less)
Better optimized for the city
Advantage Ninja 250R:
Fairing (looks and aerodynamics)
Comparable top-speed (speculated)
Legendary status
Comparatlvely Larger tank range
Better optimized for the highway
In my book, Duke 390 is offering much better value, but its not available right now. Also, you need to evaluate as per your requirements. If I were you, I would prefer to buy a ~5-15k run Ninja 250R over a Demo Ninja 250R. Because at least an individual owned Ninja would have been cared for and used by a single (or at max 2) rider(s). Thats definitely not the case with the demo Ninja.
Attaboy!!Originally posted by Sushrut View PostWhy settle for less power with the Ninja? With the Duke you will get an intense motorcycle with 10 BHP more than the NinjaAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

So i finally Test rode the ninja. IT feels super sexy . super smooth , got it up to 130 & it felt very stable , a lot heavier than the Duke 200 (what im used to) , so could not really wriggle through traffic ......Originally posted by R-series View PostI'm a weekend rider, seldom go on tours which has nothing more than 250-260kms per day. I'm changing my ninja with the new 390 just for the reason that the duke's more fun to ride, moreover the 42bhp is way beyond what my ninja run with right now
If your more into high speed cruising- It's Ninja. For city riding- the Duke will satisfy your hunger more.
So tell me , how does the ninja perform as a daily commuter

The ninja is an outright sport bike..its not a commuter its a highway and track machine..regarding the weight..one would definitely get used to the weight of any bike after riding it for a few kilometers...hold your horses wait for the duke and then go test ride them both..then go ahead with one.

Re: HELP please ! duke 390 (new) vs Ninja 250R (Demo bike - 800 km)
I guess I am in a good position to tell you about N250 vs Duke 390 dilemma.
I currently own a Ninja 250R and I'm selling it to get the Duke 390.
Ninja 250R undoubtedly is one of the most flawless bikes out there.1 and half years of ownership and I haven't faced one issue so far.Don't even worry about the engines. They are one of the most robust and bullet proof engines out there.Legendary reliability. I've covered 22000 kms on it and most of it on the highways touring.Buy Ninja if you want a sports bike with supreme highway cruising ability, just comes onto its own on the highway.
If most of your riding is in the city, then Ninja doesn't make sense one bit.The engine is lazy lower down and you wont enjoy riding it.But you will get a hell lot of attention in the city. The green is an attention magnet.
If your looking out for a 'big bike feel' and thinking of the Ninja for its poser value, look at GT250R.Highest poser value and you'l probably get it for cheap in the used market. Reliability won't be your biggest concern if you're just riding around in the city and clocking just a few kilometers.
While the bike itself is virtually flawless, the problem comes with the maintenance. If you're buying a Ninja be ready to fork out premium costs for maintenance. For eg
1.8k for brake pads(duke's cost 300 ,if i'm not mistaken). If any out of shelf parts need replacement you'll have to wait for months for them to arrive (for eg I've ordered a brake major kit 2 months back, yet to arrive!).
And in the unfortunate case that you may meet with an accident, depending on its severity, the repair cost may well EXCEED the on road cost of the bike.Ninja 250R if assembled part by part costs around 6 lakh.
Mileage figures of the 390 is pretty much the same as the Ninja.
Factoring all this I've decided to go for the Duke 390.Maintenance will be cheaper and it too comes onto its own on the highway.Fits my need perfectly.
Though I haven't got this bike, based on my TD I can tell you that you won't be doing any justice to the 390 if you plan to do most of your riding in city.Get a 200 for that.
Cheers!REVVADDICT
