    Hey guys,

I am planning to buy my first bike, for which I am thinking of CBR150R. However, my friends say its useless in city and 150cc is too much for a first timer!!

They are advicing me to go for honda shine/activa!! (I will never go for an activa though)

    1) Is a 150cc bike too much for a first timer? (I've learnt bike with pulsar 180, but never drove it beyond 40km/h and never drove it in traffic).

    2) can woman with saree climb(not a correct word to use though) cbr 150 comfortably? I know, its good for pillon while riding!!

I like FZ too, but will go for it only if CBR is not worthy for a first timer. (I will use it for office commute mostly, which has traffic for first 1.5 km and then is free of traffic)

    Thanks in advance,
    Pradeep

Any bike is good for a first timer. It depends on what the rider has between his ears!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

150cc machine is good for a first timer, but not a bike like CBR 150 i say, because it is that great powerful than other 150cc bikes.
It will not be a problem for a woman with saree to sit on it, but it wont be so comfortable for ladies to sit on Cbr-150 because its seat is a bit high & not that wide.
Being a First timer, i suggest you to go for an Fz, as with CBR, you directly go in to sports riding, which might be difficult for some to ride (the posture might not be liked by all)

        @Pradeep,

150cc is not too much for a first timer. But since you are planning to use the bike mostly as a commuter, a CBR150R isn't the wisest choice. You do have lots of other options in the 150-180cc range. The CBR150 lacks torque (Pulling power) in the lower range. I'd suggest you to check out the newly launched Trigger, or the FZ. (The FZ is a bit too commonplace these days, don't you think?)

Sportbikes won't be comfortable for ladies sitting sideways. I own a CBR250 and my wife can never sit comfortably if she wears a saree - though she can manage for short trips of less than 2-3 km. In such bikes, ladies can only sit properly if they sit straight (legs on either side of the bike)

Even the FZ seat is too small and not very comfortable, but it's atleast better than CBR150

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

          Re: First Bike

From the above discussion it seems that Yamaha FZ suits your requirement
