  • Need suggestion on choosing a bike.(Avenger or Enticer)

    Hi XBhpians,

    I am from Chennai.
My height is 5.8' and weighing 74Kg.
I am looking for a bike which is comfortable for my family (Wife and 11months old kid).
My usage would be on highway 40KM up and down. I dont travel with my family everyday. I will be taking them for about 120Kms(Up and Down) every weekend.
Earlier i had used a Passion plus and Yamaha FZ (Sold off).
Now am looking to buy a used bike since Passion lacks power to ride on a highway and its not so comfortable for me. The Container moving fast forces me to slow down or go out of the highway ofter which is not so good or safe.
Hence, I have decided that getting a cruiser kinda bike would be great to travel with family as well as to have a comfortable ride on highways with good road presence and enough power to overtake in short time if required.
So pls suggest which one of these shall i choose (Enitcer or Avenger). Or any other bike that would fulfill my requirements stated above.
Fuen Efficiency expected: 35 - 45KM is good enough.
Enticer is out of production and i guess getting spare parts for this bike would be difficult now. But these are the only two option available for as of now.(I would be glad to hear about other available options too)

    Thanks in advance,
    Padhu.

Between the Enticer and Avenger, the Avenger is way more powerful. Where can you source an Enticer? I would suggest you to stay away from used Enticers! They are atleast a decade+ old and if at all you manage to find one in good shape, spares would be a pain to source.

If you are anyways looking for a cruiser with highway presence and comfort, you may also consider a RE, if that suits your budget. Highway mileage for a 350 will be within your expectations.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I think bullet is the one you should look for. Thunderbird is a good cruiser with enough road presence. Or even some other bullet model will do the trick.
Enticer is again a 125 cc IIRC and I getting parts will be difficult. About Avenger I don't know much. comments will soon follow from others.

          Hi,
Yes as you suggested, finding an enticer is diff and getting spared is even more difficult. Thats the reason i asked about the same in my query.
RE is beyond my budget and also Bullets need good care and maintanance cost is also high compared to other bikes.
I got an offer for a 2011 June Avenger. Run 9K kms till date for 45K. Do you think its a good deal to go ahead with?

          TIA,
          Padhu.

Just a heads up, Avenger's pillion comfort is NOT good (due to thin pillion seat).
            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

+1 for the Avenger pillion seat - but it can be easily modified with extra padding (upto 1.5" on either sides) to make it more pillion-friendly. The Avenger will behave well on highways, no doubts on that. 9k in 2 years sounds credible - do make sure the engine hasn't been messed around.

I feel shy to compare Avenger and Enticer.
                Lots of difference between them.
Enticer is an Entry level cruiser. Clearly Underpowered for highway, its only a city bike according to me. Where as avenger is much better than it. Moreover i think its almost been 8-9 years that Enticer has been out of production.
The thing i never liked in enticer is that its a 125cc machine & consumes fuel like a 200cc mill
Spares are a big issue with the enticer, never readily available.
Where as avenger is a good bike, more comfortable, more powerful & more stylish than Enticer.
Avenger's fuel efficiency too is great.
Dont go back to the old times, almost a decade back. You will face a problem with its spares, need to search a lot.
                Better buy an Avenger.

That is a very very great and beautiful deal bro.
Go for it. 45k is worth it.

Enticer is too old and underpowered compared to the Avenger. I suggest that you pick the Avenger. If the pillion seats are uncomfortable, you can fix it with some extra padding. Since you are buying a second hand bike, ensure that the bike is in good running condition and shape.
