Agree with The Monk, KTM Duke 200 fits the bill. Its nimble, A.S.S is good, decent fuel economy for the performance, enough thrills to keep you excited and excellent bang for buck. As you said you wouldn't mind going north of 2 lacs, the upcoming Duke 390 should also be in consideration.
Gotta appreciate the amount of detail you have put in your request. Its probably the longest request post I have read.
Imperfect human knowledge may be a bumpy, pot-holed street but its the only road to wisdom worth taking . . .

+1. Duke is the bike that you have been looking for.
It will make you grin in the city, and it won't disappoint you in that once-in-a-while highway ride. It has plenty of torque and doesn't lose steam till 120 km/h.
Again, you are not concerned about pillion comfort, so the virtually-nonexistent pillion seat on the Duke shouldn't bother you.
(PS: Whether you want to go for Duke 200 or want to wait for the 390 is entirely your call, now that bookings for the 390 are just around the corner!)Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

thanks
I had a look at 390 on the internet.
Correct me if I am wrong, there is hardly any difference between 200 and 390 in exterior?
Also, is a 50k (60-70k) extra worth it? I mean, will I be able put to all the extra torque and power on city roads?
I think I am leaning towards 200.

Visually they are clones, except for that 390 decal and different color schemes. That one reason which has disappointed many people who were expecting a different looking bike.Originally posted by soap.bend View Postthanks

If if question is whether the Duke 390 is worth the 60-70K premium, then yes, it's very much worth it. Whether you can utilize it or not is an entirely different question. People in India do buy Hayabusas - but do they really ride at 300kph?
That said, the 390 makes sense if you are looking for a maniac of a machine - something that can remind your dad about the RD350 days. Something that can take off from traffic lights like a cannon-ball. The 200 is comparatively much more sedate.Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. +1,
Exactly, Even 4 strokes & 2 strokes should not be compared, i still made a decision for myself when i have read the specs & power figures of the Duke-390, that it is going to give a bit power feel like the Rd-350.
Royal Enfield Bullet Standard 350cc 1989, Bajaj Avenger 200-2009, Pulsar 200 NS 2015.
