  • Best 125cc Bike for pune traffic

Guys, I totally confused and want advice on purchasing a 125CC bike in Pune. I have selected a few below on various reviews and want a serious opinion which one to go for.
    1. Hero Honda Glamour / FI
    2. Yamaha Gladiator
    3. Bajaj Discover 125 ST
    4. Honda CB Shine

I have about an average height and 65KG weight.

I will have daily travelling of 26 KMS to office with long drive trips on weekends and my basic need is to get great mileage(55/60) at 40-60 speed.Want your suggestions on price, mileage, looks, service, comfort and resale value.

    Thanks in advance.

As you are looking for long drives, go with the Discover or the Gladiator. Both are comfortable for long-distance rides as well as for commuting. When it comes to performance, the Discover 125 is currently best of the lot. The Gladiator is also a close second in performance, but has a slightly lower mileage (45-50kpl)

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

It's not that bad these days...or rather, putting it in a different perspective, Honda, Hero, Suzuki, Bajaj, RE, Yamaha - they all belong to the same league as far as quality is concerned.

Still, if you are psychologically opposed to a Bajaj, then you can go for the Yamaha which gives a similar performance, but is slightly less advanced compared to Discover, and returns slightly less mileage.

I think you should go with Stunner or Ignitor both are good and average of 55kmpl+.

D125ST has very thin rear tyre.

Yamaha does have a decent resale value - lower than Honda but higher than Bajaj any day

That's true .. eventually I am not buying it to resale .. only fact is that Yamaha keeps on changing its model versions may be to upgrade its benefits .. but this might affect the owners of previous versions ..
Any one from Yamaha Gladiator facing spare parts issue in Pune........

Go with SS125(Gladiator) with you eyes closed. You'll get the smoothest possible ride on a 125cc. Discover ST is a good bike .. no doubts about that. But the comfort(pillion comfort as well) and smoothness of SS125 is not there. Being technologically advanced does not automatically guarantee being better. SS 125 is a bit low on FE but compensates more than the loss via ride quality and handling. One more thing, the after sales showroom experience is much better in Yamaha than any other brand. Still, the decision is yours to take !!!

A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Discover 125 ST, liked it. Good power, good looks, comfort isnt bad as well. And Bajaj bikes are always low on pocket !

You could also prefer Pulsar 135, which is an Awesome bike, gives a mileage of around 55 as well.
"Madness", as you know, is a lot like gravity, all it takes is a little push !

Great to hear more about SS125 .. well my friends who own Pulsar are forcing me to go for either Discover 125ST or Pulsar 135 LS hence will be visiting on of the Bajaj show room today... hope I won't disappoint...

One of friends told me that he was working as technician in Bajaj before and found that to overcome the public demand of bikes Bajaj compensates for parts quality checking and approves them ...
Also not sure whether the mono shock nitrox suspension in Bajaj 125 ST would be able to overcome the bumpy roads in Pune with longer rides …

If you are inclined towards SS125, it's worth it by all means. I have owned a Gladiator for over a year and must say it was one of the best 125s I ever rode. But still, it's best to take a Test Ride for both - so that you get a proper experience and decide which bike suits you better.

Well, I will own any bike for the first time. Previously I owned Activa but now days it’s like maintaining a Petrol Tanker along with me. I have tried some of the bikes for test ride but not for more than 10 mins ... so which ever bike I purchase I will get used to it somehow.

Yes I loved the looks and power of SS125 and the name of Yamaha itself makes the statement .. the only worry I do have is the best mileage I can pull out of Yamaha as I will riding it for about 30 KMS per day in traffic bustling roads of Pune since it’s not much famous to be a low end torque bike.
