  • Suggest a bike for all indian conditions.

    Hi guys

I am looking for a bike for all road conditions.

I have daily commutation of around 80 km from home to office to home and occassionally i love to go on tours depending on the leaves available.

So i am looking for a bike which can be taken anywhere either on-road , off-road, hill-stations ,in city traffic etc.

An other addon is 50% times i have fren pillon with me. So i like to consider that as well.

    Budget--not more than 2 lac...

In market there are many option available i know ..but still confused which wouch be most suited and reliable..as i dont like to change things soon.

Please suggest me the bike with a reason if possible.

I am 5'10" average physic guy...

Thanks in advance waiting for your replies..

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Sir, you did not mention which TYPE of bike you want i;e Cruiser, a sportsbike, a streetfighter.
Anyways, why not have a look at the CBR 250R, its a great bike. Powerful, refined, good highway performer/offroader too.

@Touseef: As a CBR owner, I can say that it is not a off-roader. Not the very least. It's a different thing that it absorbs bumps well, but it's way too vulnerable to broken cowls and rattling fairings if ridden hard on bad roads for longer periods. The CBR is more of a city/highway machine which won't mind 4-5 km of bad roads.

In this regard, a RE (Bullet/Classic) would be a better choice. Since decades, it has been eternally proven as a all-condition, all terrain bike. It's perfect as a tourer on good roads, and it's happy on village/kutcha roads, and it can also be taken off-road it required.

Edit: Hero Impulse will also fit the bill, if you can live with the looks...I have actually seen people in formals, using am Impulse to commute to office

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

          Thanks for correcting me
As you are PROUD owner of Cbr250, i go with you.
I have ridden the CBR for 13 kms of bad roads, i felt it performed really well.
But as you said, the fairing rattlings with faired bikes are surely an issue if ridden too hard.

Whats wrong with your existing bike (assuming the bike in your avatar pic is actually yours)? Does pretty much everything you have mentioned on the requirements list.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Cbr flairing doesnot rattle. I ride it mostly off road destinations. Read no road only stones sand etc. no rattle at all from flaring

Every bike, including the CBR can be ridden on kutcha roads if required, but I am sure it is not the CBR's forte (key strength). Even a R1 can be taken on bad roads, but that doesn't make a R1 an all-terrain bike. The NS, with it's high GC sounds good, but but the underbelly exhaust would be a bit tricky. Same goes for Duke. As said by Antz, P220 is a potent weapon.

Depending on your preferences, you can choose between Impulse, P220 or RE.

If you need info on the 220f do check out my signature. I have done a long teem ownership report. Hope this kind of detail might help you decide.
Do search for such reviews of other bike you are willing to consider, talk with those owners if possible and then make an informed choice.

                      Cheers

This is what I would do..
                        Get a cbr 250..
Ditch all the fairings and put a small head light in front.
"Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

with all these conditions said, the only one bike which comes into my mind is the Hero Impulse, it's a great bike,
                            1. You can use it for commuting daily.
                            2. You can tour with that.
                            3. It's an on-road off-road bike, so you can take it wherever you want on the road or off the road.
                            4. It suits you for your height.
                            5. You can carry a pillion along too.

and most important thing is that our Indian roads are almost filled with path holes, so this bike has the highest ground clearance now and also it meets up with all the criteria including your budget, saving another lack for you. . .

Just go for it. . .
