  • want a 250 cc or above bike within 3 months.

one bike for all purpose, remember we are Indian middle class. According to usage good mileage will be desirable attribute as my monthly running exceeds 2600KM/month easily.

Now problem is I am getting bored with this bike and want to upgrade for more power. Maximum I Can spend on new bike is 3.5 lacs.

My riding style is spirited one & one important thing is I enjoy riding with my wife also(she also loves to ride with me on my Flying DucK (R15), all the weekends trips, shopping trips are with her only.

I was planning for a cruiser Bike but could not identify any good bike with in this budget I have some reservation about ride & engine quality against Hyosung. Royal Enfield looks and handling not my taste.

Now I am pin pointing on Ninja 300R or KTM duke 390, which could be better though I am more inclined on Duke 390 but doubt about my wife comfort (any user review? Kindly). If we have to compromise on pillion comfort than how much, is it drastic or manageable for Duke 390.

Kindly suggest, I open to all the suggestion, and can consider any third bike also if it suits my requirements.
    Thanks

    Query Approved

Get your wife to test ride the pillion seat of both and then let her decide! She won't go wrong between the two bikes in question
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Not much choice in there...isn't it? I guess the N300 pillion seat will be pretty much the same as a R15v2's - meaning that if your spouse is ok on your R15, she should find it fine on the Ninja (BTW I am not sure if you had R15 v1 or v2).

But if you are willing for a cruiser and not willing for a RE or Hyosung...so why not wait a few more months and jump the gun to the ultimate 'affordable' biggie - A Harley Superlow with a custom seat?

Re: want a 250 cc or above bike within 3 months.

Neither N300 nor D390 have good pillion comfort. I am not sure if anybody has switched the stock pillion seat with a better/comfortable aftermarket one. In 3.5 Lacs bracket the only one that is the most comfortable according to your tastes is CBR250R with ABS is the best bet.

If you can stretch your budget, then Ninja 650 or HD Superlow are the best suited and will keep you interested for a while for sure.

I would suggest you to take a test ride along with your wife on Ninja/CBR250R and D390 when it arrives, to see what suites best for you guys.

most comfortable is CBR250R, but best bike is Ninja300, but ninja is slightly out of your budget and is costly to maintain too. duke 390 has a very small pillion seat and you may not like its riding stance. i have a suggestion, even if you dont want to buy a hyosung, just for the sake of it, take a long test ride of hyosung GT250R, it won't harm you.

I believe, just like the 200 twins, the P375 will have slightly better pillion comfort compared to the Duke 390.

The 300 is not too away from your budget...about 50k But the pillion seat doesnt appear too comfy- more so for women.
Want to check the Duke 390's ergonomics? Go test ride the 200 with your wife. The ergos would be almost the same...a difference of few millimeters here and there. The Duke is not the best bet for those who like to ride with pillions...
Why don't you look out for good deals on the Ninja 250R? Mint condition '12 ones will be available within 2.5L. Though I'm not sure if its pillion seat is larger than the 300's, the tail's height is lower and also less sloping, which will make it easier for the pillion to mount

Yup, the 250R is a more comfortable machine compared to the 300R. And it will definitely give you more excitement than the CBR250.

Thanks for all these suggestions I am considering between N300 & Duke 390, But second hand N250R is also good option +1 to That,
Any suggestion where to try to get mint condition Ninja 250R safely.

We both have good amount of experience on R15 V1 it is the bike we both are enjoying right now, so seating posture is not problem we can manage but the space is. Right now inclined on D390 but doubt that seat space is not enough, seat space for D390 is really of same size D200 that is strange!! is it smaller than R15 pillion seat?
No test available for D390 so have to wait for test ride.

So you made the choice as N300, great! Post the pic. Duke will surely be a problem for pillion mind that before buying.

It's not about where but about how. If you make up your mind to go for a used 250R, forst of all avoid brokers/consultants/used bike dealers! Shortlist 3-4 different individual sellers, and tag along someone who owns a N250. Only a passionate owner will be able to tell correctly whether a similar bike is well maintained or not. Check if some N250 owners here are willing to help you out with the tests.

Adding to what bbsrailfan said, post an inquiry on the N250R thread . I'm sure you'll get help there....by now there should be a fair no. of users thinking of upgrading to the N650 ;D

Haven't you gone through the D390's specs closely? It's essentially the same D200 with a bigger motor and better components.
As for your earlier query, comparing the pillion seat of the R15 V1 to the Duke is like comparing Schumacher's driving skills to Karthikeyan's!
