  • Mahindra Duro DZ, Rodeo RZ , Tvs Wego or Aviator or Activa

Hi Friends this is my first post in XBHP.

I am in a process of finalizing a scootie for myself. I am little bulky, say around 82kg weight and 6ft. But I am looking for scootie, because I dont like the clutch gear thing in scooters, especially in city like mumbai.

SO, I need some advice from the esteemed members as to which brand of scootie should I opt for, on these parameters:

    1) Mileage (city and highway)
    2) Durability
    3) Maintenance
    4) Raw Power
    5) Long drive potentials, especially 200+ kms in hilly terrain

Please, provide me with best guidelines and help me choose the best one.

    Regards

I guess a Swish 125 or an Access 125 would offer a better pulling power, especially if you ride uphill/with a pillion.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I would suggest you Hero Maestro as it has got good torque and power figures along with good fuel efficiency....
Also check Duro from Mahindra as it would offer enough legroom for a person of your height....
The new HET engine on Honda Aviator is also good to be checked....

Of all the scooters you have short listed, the only thing that fits you is Honda Aviator. I am myself 6ft and had no trouble riding it. Absolute gem of a bike. Honda Activa is good, but Aviator looks better and suites guys.

Why not Honda Dio? That scooter has got the best looks i say.

Also, i somehow find TVS Wego and Mahindra Rodeo miniature creatures. Have seen guys of our height riding and it looked funny.

Check out Suzuki Swish and Access also. Reliability for them is not an issue.

Since you stay in Mumbai, getting after sales service for any scooters will not be an issue. Also, do you want a 110cc or 125cc scooter? Figure that out and go ahead with the choice.

          Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Go for Suzuki Access. Had the scoot for 2 years. Awesome torque, peppy engine, have tripped on it innumerable times. Better than competition ( Honda and TVS ) sinceit is a 125cc mill. Duro on the other hand needs to be compared, but you would miss the fun which is there on the Access.

What about the maintenance.....Suzuki ASCs arent everywhere
I would say buy a Suzuki only if you have an authorised suzuki service center at your place.......

                Why not an Activa?
The best seller since almost a decade & better stay away from Mahindra's mopeds because they are entirely new and have worst resale value.
                Activa is a clear allrounder.

Thanks...but what about Mahendra Duro DZ?
Heard that it is good and over hauled and has a good pickup, even with a pillion.
Mileage, is 60, according to Indian Driving Cycle.

Yes the Duro DZ is definitely better......has very good quality parts like other Mahindra scoots....and yup its got a nice mileage too.....
I would say dont go for activa....you are tall and activa is just crap in terms of technology.....nothing great to speak of...except the honda engine..and maintenance is costly than M&M..accompanied with the bad..bad Honda dealerships..and a long waiting period due to lower production capacity of Honda..

Its the old Kinetic Nnova, which was indeed a very good bike. As you have rightly said, it does have good pick up and its quite zippy also.

But, no idea about after sales, i have not seen many Mahindra outlets. Take a TD first.

Crap Technology?? What technology do you mean?? People are not crazy who will just buy this product if it was not so worth. Honda Activa is worth the penny (not bragging for any brand).

But people are buying it blindly...everyone knows that....activa has got nothing great to offer.....not even simple telescopic suspension....ask me...my cousin owns a green activa.......and duro has a new engine at its heart....its a 125cc mill provided by the japanese scooters leading brand SYM.....

If you want telescopic suspension, you have Aviator. Its a matter of choice. Aviator has an option of disc brake to.

Also, the after sales for is important while buying. Without proper after sales, there is no point in buying and repenting afterwards.

IMO after-sales support for Mahindra has never been a strong point. Not to mention resale value. I think the TS should do a market study to identify which 125cc scoot gets the best service support.

Activa is a good choice no doubt, but it's far too bland compared to its opponents from the Suzuki shed
