  • Are there any specific guidelines while purchasing a new bike ?

    Hi,

I'm booking a new bike [Avenger 220] in next week ( was due to book this weekend but couldn't coz my mother said not to due to something ...whatever ). Have taken quotes from few dealers in ghaziabad/noida/east delhi but still unable to find any discount or freebies (not sure why all of these dealers are not proviidng anything ).

But were keen to ask are there any specific guidelines to keep in mind while buying a new bike and what all precautions to take or anything else...

PS : please don't blow me off for being extra cautious. i thought it will be good to know some traps before-hand

    Cheers..

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

      Traps I know are
      1) teflon coating:Say no thanks, you can reduce the cost instead.Buy yourself some good wax,way better
2)Helmet-don't even bother to get it from SVC
3)Giving your bike for test ride's and themselves ripping it.No way to know,as they remove odometer cable.

The PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) list for your bike should be the right place to look for. Usually, PDI is done by the dealers, but it's always advisable to verify everything yourself. Avenger owners here will be able to help you out with a PDI list specifically for the Avenger, but tThis link should help you out with some general pointers:
What to check (PDI list) before you take delivery of your bike / motorcycle | Nex Gen Bikes

Apart from the points mentioned here, do check the oil cooler fins to ensure there are no bent fins.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Thanks albyjose & bbsrailfan for the reply.

They are quite helpful and yes i learned few things while taking the final delivery from SVC.

Anything related to Papers / Documents which i should keep in mind ??? Any suggestions on that field ?

          Cheers...

Not much that I am aware of - you will need to ensure that the Engine#, Chassis# etc are mentioned correctly. Also go through the invoice to make sure they don't overcharge you.
