    PLEASE SUGGEST - I GOT SZ-R IN SEP2012

"earlier my office was 45 KM (total including up&down). But Since last 2 month they have now shifted to someother place which is 35 to 40 km away from my home i.e. 40+40 = 80km in a day.

When I purchased this bike I thought somehow the bike will delivered the mileage around 45km due to its low bhp, but since beginning the mileage never go above then 40km, infact it hover around 40km.I raised this problem many time to different authorized center but unfruitful, I changed petrol pump too

I drove this bike for atleast one month around 45 speedometer range but nothing happened.

Apart from this distance and the mileage is concerned, I also feel it is very difficult to carry day to day consumable items from market to home ( heavy in weight) on bike."

Now discussion part, as my bike is just 8 month old and completed only 6000km , I want to do valuation in second hand market as see how much I will get the price... (what you ppls thinks on this... Rs55,000 is what my mind set)

Though I got car too, but that's not my personal choice, even i dont like to use car for small distance near by my home.

AS I AM MEDIUM BUILT WITH GOOD HEIGHT ABOVE 6.1", what scooter you ppls will suggest me.. i like AVIATOR (white in color) and if my bike sell on the price which i was asking then i dont need to spend any huge amount on this scooter. Also I heard that now the mileage of this honda scooter is increased. They claimed for 60, if i will get 50 then never mind. As it will serve all my purpose.......

I will be using this scooter (if I will purchased it ) for office traveling and for nearby market with my wife, and my wify also want to learn the same.

Also one more plan in my mind is that after purchase of this scooter I will go for something big bike like 250+ but that was in 2014.

So presently i got personally one car , one scooter (old one herohonda pleasure - hope you ppls dont think on this as the height of this little ponny is very low) and my bike (SZ-R).... these things personally owned by me excluded my father's vehicles.

Sometime it is very difficult to mange the maintenance for these above three vehicle for me....So its only in my mind to sell of pleasure and SZ-r and purchase one scooter. So the CAR and Scooter (only two vehicle) can easily maintained by me.

So, Friends please suggest .. what I WILL DO?

I think you are just trying to buy something.. it is a problem with nearly all petrol heads, we try to change our machines just because of xyz reason. I would ask you to take the car out when doing heavy shopping.
Also try putting some carrier on your sz-r and manage medium sized shopping. I think you are on the heavier side and there is something wrong in the way you ride, 40 is very low for an sz. I get that on my fazer under heavy use.
Selling one bike to get a scooter just because of space is a little unacceptable. If you really want it, sell the smaller bike and buy a gearless scooter for your wife.
As you also plan to go for 250 cc stuff, this new scooter would be used only by your wife after sometime.. so buy and sell very juditiously.

I'd say stick around to your SZ-R as of now and think on the following factors:

          1. A new scoot now and a bigger bike next year, plus your car - won't that again add up to 3 vehicles for you to own and maintain?
          2. If you are looking at mileage, how will you make do with a 250cc+ machine?
          3. If travelling 80kms everyday - what would you prefer to ride? I'd certainly prefer a bike over a scoot.
          4. You are 6.1 tall and 98kgs...will a 110cc scoot give you all the pulling power that you need on highways/on your 40km commute?
          5. You already have a scoot in the family which *can* be used for veggie shopping

You need to take a few decisions based on your primary usage, and not on secondary usage. Your primary concern should be your 40km commute.

          • A bike will be safer, faster, more enjoyable and depending on your choice, comfy too. For veggie shopping, you can even add a set of detachable sidebags that will give you a cool 'tourer' look!
          • A scooter will deliver a similar FE (~40-45) and greater comfort and space but slower and (IMO) unsafe on highways. And I guess, barring the Aviator and the Maestro, all other scoots would seem puny for your build. For a better pull and power, it's advisable for you to stick to a 125cc scooter.

          Choose wisely!~

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

If I am not mistaken meddling with the bike to get it tuned for mileage is wrong. If you are travelling like 40+40 a day, you must keep the SZR since its safer and comfortable than a small wheeled scooter for long rides.
I believe you must check your tyre pressure regularly and serviced at time, also ride style and weight matters too. I weight 80kg and travel mostly with pillion rider, so my mileage is around 38-43kmpl depending on driving style. I have observed I can get upto 46-47kmpl solo when I used to ride it initially during break in period. Nowaday I pull the throttle more, I dont actually worry much about mileage since I travel mostly inside city doing less than few hundred km in a month.

If you want another bike because you don't like SZ then that makes sense, but I don't think if you sell the SZ, making a loss of rs.20000 just to buy a scooter that you think might give you more mileage is not at all sensible since SZR would be more safer and better at comfortable ride for long strech. Scooters for one, dont get you 50 to 60 mileage, especially for your weight. The seats are broad and comfy but you will start getting back aches due to poor suspension and small wheel of scooter. Also you may find the 100cc puny scooter unable to pull you and a pillon as comfortably as the SZR did.

I suggest you use car or auto to carry that once a month grocery. You can put a side hook on the bike to put the market bag. SZR is somewhere in between a good commuter and a racer thanks to its peppy torque 150cc mill. My suggestion is to keep it until you get that 250cc bike(remember again here, you cant expect the 250cc to give you ever more than 30kmpl).

There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

I had done the same mistake( except the mileage part ) had sold of my TB AVL since it was eating up on maintainence and got an Access 125. The scoot is good for city use and grocery shopping but on open streches was unsafe and lacked top end. Also the small wheels and poor suspension stressed out my cervical problem. Keep the SZ-R and show it to a good mech for mileage purposes. Check the carb tuning. For shopping purposes carry asling bag !
