  • Which of these machine would be suitable for me?

    Hi Friends,

Currently i own a 2015 Royal Enfield Classic 350 and it does the perfect duty both in city as well as in the highways. And it has been the most comfortable machine for me till now but now i want to upgrade to some other new machine.

    Budget: Upto 2.8 Lakhs.
    Height: 5.10
    Weight: 75 Kgs
Usage: Office Commute, Highway runs and Weekend breakfast rides.
    Fuel Efficiency: 28 - 35 Kmpl.

The Bike will be used 50% on city and 50% on highway with monthly running of about 2000 Kms.

    The bikes considered are:

    1. Royal Enfield Himalyan 411.
    2. Royal Enfield Scram 411.
    3. Bajaj Dominar 400.
    4. Honda CB 350 Highness.

    Test Drive Experience
When i went to test drive these machines i went in my classic 350 and this test drive experience is full and full my own opinion so if i have spoke any wrong about any bikes over here please apologize, this is just my experience.

    1. Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 - The Royal Enfield Himalayan was indeed a good motorcycle for my height and i could really flat foot both the feet on the ground. And this was the first time i test drove a Himalayan since its launch in 2016. It was a small test drive (within a Kilometer up and down) with road work going on with 100% fully broken roads, everyone around me was watching me with shock that they would have opted for this bike as i was like gliding through them. The gear shifting was smooth than my Classic 350. The drive was like sitting on a sofa and not even a single pothole hurt me. I really liked the exhaust sound. The bike was taking caring of it. Really liked the handlebar position and the sitting posture. Taking a U turn in this bike was easier than my Royal Enfield Classic 350. I really liked the tall wind screen, hazard lights and compass.

    2. Royal Enfield Scram 411 - The Royal Enfield Scram 411 was also test driven on the same day, i test drove the scram 411 after the Royal Enfield Himalayan test drive. And it was the same copy of the Royal Enfield Himalayan characteristics. This Scram 411 was also driven in the same terrain ( 100% fully broken roads ) but a bit longer ( 3 Kms ). The gear shifting was smooth than my Classic 350. The drive was like sitting on a sofa and not even a single pothole hurt me. The bike was taking caring of it. I really liked the exhaust sound. I felt the bike was almost equal to its sibling in comfort. Really liked the handlebar position and the sitting posture. Taking a U turn in this bike was easier than my Royal Enfield Classic 350. I really liked the single pod instrument cluster which really distinguishes it from its sibling.

    3. Bajaj Dominar 400 - I was waiting for this bike's test drive for the past one month and i got a test drive, the test drive bike was with the whole touring kit and the test drive was in a proper tarmac ( 2 Kms ). I could properly flat foot in this bike. The bike performed seamlessly well and the gear shifting was butter smooth than the Royal Enfield Siblings and even it is almost more buttery smooth than my Classic 350. And i really liked the exhaust sound though it was a bit louder than the Royal Enfield Siblings. This was the first time me driving a power cruiser, i didn't even feel like i was driving at 70 Kmph it was one butter smooth drive on the proper highway. But taking an U turn in this bike is same as my Classic 350 so it was never a bothersome for me. While on test drive the bike stalled 3 times because of me, i didn't know i was on the 3rd gear all 3 times and it stalled i thought i was at 2nd gear. Even though it was a proper tarmac but it had some road patched here and there and the suspension just soaked every thing / filtered everything. I really liked the horn in this bike but i would like the pulsar horn in this bike. I really liked the LED Headlights but can't say about the illumination as i test drove it day time.

    4. Honda CB 350 Highness - The moment i sat on this bike i just felt like i sat on a rebadged Classic 350 but i was wrong after i start the machine, the machine was vibration free and i really liked it but what i didn't like was the sound which came from the exhaust which is pleasing to hear but it wasn't raw from the machine like the Classic 350 but still i can't regret the fact that the machine and gear box was smooth and silent than my Classic 350. The horn button placement was new to me and i was pressing the indicators for pressing the horn and then i realized that the horn button was at top of the indicators. This is the bike which came with the hazard button factory fitted like the Royal Enfield Siblings. And i really liked the dual tone horns than the single tone horn in the DLX variant.

The Switch Qualities in all these bikes felt more premium and solid for their pricing. And above experience is my own opinion and i would like every one ( owners of these above bikes, test driven people, long term owners, etc.) to suggest a machine by sharing your experiences with your own bikes and considering service, long term reliability, etc.

    Thanks in advance.
